It really doesn't matter when it comes out from a development standpoint. It could come out in january really, it's still 12 months whethers it's January or August. If you pushed it back to November it would only add a couple months for the first cycle but after that your right back to 12 months. EA will never go to a 2 year cycle either, doesn't make sense from a business aspect. They've got the marketing down to a science so don't look for that to change.

There's also the issue of the NFL (which also impacts the release date and the idea of a 2-year cycle as well). For most of these licensed games, the developers are hamstrung by the granter's timetable. Meaning, in the case of Madden, the NFL has a big say when Madden gets released. It coincides with their own seasonal kickoff promotions, etc.
In the end, t does essentially come down to money, of course...just simply not all on the part of EA. I'm willing to bet this is one of the struggles between the developers and the suits that the developers have either learned to accept, or always lose...lol.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Blog: 2nd Title Update Preliminary Details
I completely understand this and agree, but they need to bite the bullet and do this one year (this year would have been nice). If the could have released this game a month or more later to include everything that had to be patched, they could focus the entire next twelve months on Madden 11 instead of sharing some, even a little big of M11 time fixing M10.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Blog: 2nd Title Update Preliminary Details
Everything seems to be based on trying to fix exploits in online play. I do not understand why they try to fix this so much. If you play online there are going to be people who try to cheat. I mean it seems like they break something to try to fix something something else. I can just see super human CB's who are covering the WR then warp to the flats. We already have 6'6" WR's who cant jump because of "rocket catch". If they want to Fix the Online game have someone like a moderator for these games. I do not understand why the whole game is changed just for the online play. I could care less about playing online.Comment

Madden, like all other sports games were made to be played head to head. Competition. "Season" and "franchise" modes weren't around from the beginning. Some of us could care less about beating up on the CPU over and over. The AI will NEVER come close to playing against a real human opponent, never. That is neither here nor there though.
The GAMEPLAY and anything that is an exploit, or a glitch, is EA's responsibility to get right, or correct if they mess up. Just because you don't play online means the mass amount of other people who do play head to head should suffer?
Here's a novel idea, how about all of us, every single Madden consumer EXPECT MORE from Tiburon all around? Why can't the franchise CPU guys get everything they are looking for from that aspect of the game while at the same time they actually get right the gameplay?
There is no doubt some people will always "try" and cheat, but that doesn't mean EA shouldn't fix it, or get it right from the beginning. We are paying a premium price for these games. 59.99 is not "chump change" these days, especially when you consider for that same 59.99 you could get a REALLY great, POLISHED game like COD: MW2.Comment

I agree with some of guys in here, you have to fix the gameplay offline before you can fix the online,I mean I just can care less about the online aspectComment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Blog: 2nd Title Update Preliminary Details
Okay..
Can we please give this impatient thing a rest? The blog clearly states that the patch won't come out at any point in October so, at the very least, we will be lucky to hear something new about this patch on or soon after November 1st. It is ONLY October 20th, so that's 11 more days before you can even expect new information, if anything, nevermind the patch itself.
Be real. Be logical.
This sh*t ain't coming out 'til we are well into November.Comment

Can you even imagine if they were to do that. People get mad when the games don't drop before the pre-season, could you imagine what people would do if the game didn't drop until week 6!!!!Comment

Ive been thinking this for the last five years. My madden has been sitting there since the preseason. I dont really understand how people play the game when they know a patch is coming out.Comment

You mean you actually thought they would release this, or any game, without a patch? I'm pretty sure every game i've played has had a patch, that never stopped me from playing them unitl it was released.Comment

Actually, I can remember when Madden didn't come out until the middle of November. Think that was back in the Genesis days. I remember picking up Madden '95 on like November 15th.New Jersey Devils- 1995, 2000, 2003
New York Giants- 1927, 1934, 1938, 1956, 1986, 1990, 2007.

This is true. Pushing it back a few months would only help for the first year it's done. After, it's back to the 12mo. cycle.

Re: Preliminary details
"Rarings" fixed.
With the extreme budget that the Madden team have, these sort of problems shouldn't have come to surface, and it started with '09. Now, Ian and his "team" of "devs" should have seen these problems and at least come out and said "We are trying to fix the morph and tim shift tackling and robo-QB and OL/DL interactions and WR/DB interactions and spin catch". Then came back to use with the results, instead they throw in a few "upgrade" to the presentation, do some garbage **** with the engine, which we have come to know as PRO-TAK, and update the rosters, constantly.
But no. Which means we suffer through another football season with some suck-***, slack job, piece of **** referred to as Madden '10.Comment
