I play OL in high school, and the best plays were when you push a guy way up the field.....
Basing skill on pancakes is silly, I know guy who get 1-3 pancakes a game, but does that make them great? No, it just means they pancaked a guy.
the best OL I have ever seen in high school (Chris Long, DE Rams) blew people off the line and pushed them 10 yards up field. That was more impressive than pushing a guy over and landing on them.
And the point is that usually your guys either get 15+ more pancakes or about 10 less than other team depending on luck/ whether you run a smash mouth or run balanced, or you run a pass heavy scheme. And that means 3-4 pro bowlers or non progressing scrubs.
