How do you stop screens?
I can not stop bubble screens or RB screens. Is there a way to stop them without completely selling out, or is it a glitch? I hate playing people who get 50% of their offensive production via the screen.Originally posted by banned memberMy [RTTS] goals are to improve my bunting and drag bunting. Re: How do you stop screens?
Pick a team with either an absolute beast line backer, 49ers or a beast safety, ravens and try to jump the screen.
If you have a clown who refuses to run any other play than screens *saints users cough cough* you have to piss the guy off by shutting the screen game down and make him make mistakes using a normal offensive set.
Good luck -
Re: How do you stop screens?
I was playing the Vikings the other day online and someone kept doing screen passes to AP whenever I'd stop them on any other play so I started calling an audible into Cover 3 and I'd almost always hit him for a loss. I even made him fumble once.Comment

Re: How do you stop screens?
the best way to shut down all screen plays is to call man coverage bump n run then put you de's in contain blitz. works 100% of the time. also man coverage de contain works on wildcat too the key is not to blitz and don't shift your line or linebackers this also works pretty good on run plays. let me know how you like it.Comment

Re: How do you stop screens?
Shouldn't adaptive AI on defense help with this? I have also been victimized by this crap.EXPERIENCE MAYHEM FOOTBALLComment

Re: How do you stop screens?
adaptive AI only works when you play the computer. It responds to you calling the same plays. Hopefuly next year they put adaptive AI in next year to prevent people from calling the same plays over and over again but i doubt it.

Man coverage works against a screen play? That doesn't even make sense. This game must be messed up because a zone is what stops a screen in reality.the best way to shut down all screen plays is to call man coverage bump n run then put you de's in contain blitz. works 100% of the time. also man coverage de contain works on wildcat too the key is not to blitz and don't shift your line or linebackers this also works pretty good on run plays. let me know how you like it.Comment

Most NFL teams use the screen to get team out of zone and into man, actually.
The QB contain works pretty good. It doesn't stop the screen every time, because you never know where the screen is coming. But it is worth using this feature on every 3rd and long; or whenever your opponent goes to the screen.Originally posted by banned memberMy [RTTS] goals are to improve my bunting and drag bunting. Re: How do you stop screens?
Man coverage works in real life cuz every one is head up on a guy. In zone, if you do a bubble screen to the slot theres no way a zone defense would be able to stop an 8 yrd gain...in real life anyway.Comment

Re: How do you stop screens?
you're better off user defending the screen. And try lb contain with the 46 defense. Then set up a cover 4 from the same d as an audible so you can pick him off if he audibles to a passing play.Image in Signature Removed by Operation Sports Staff due to TOS Violation.Comment

Re: How do you stop screens?
Cover 3 press is a nice zone play for stopping screens.
There's a version of the cover 3 that's in the 34 stack playbook (I know NYJ have it, maybe PIT and NE too but I'm not 100% sure on those) called Weak 3 Flat that's also very nice.
Out of the man coverage sets, both DE contain and QB contain (which has the OLB in contain assignments instead of the DE) will work. I prefer QB contain because the OLB get outside to the drop point very quickly. The DE contain will slow the progress of the blockers, whereas the QB contain attacks the position the HB will take.
You could also just run cover 1 and take an extra guy out to get the screen manually, but you better not miss!
PS: Why is it always so hard for video games to get defending this play right? The Cover 2 should work fine but doesn't really, at least not consistently, and DE and LB should diagnose and chase it down if they have good AWR.Comment

Re: How do you stop screens?
I have actually come to love those flat abusers. It is almost laughable when you do stop them from using the screens. That is all alot of those guys have , so they are lost when you stop it and it is funny. It used to give me problems , but now the only thing keeping my defense from being truly great is stopping those damn direct snaps. Here are some plays I use to stop them:
4-3 ( Cover 4 Flats ) Control DE or S
4-6 ( LB Contain ) Control S and spread out DE's
Nickel 1-5-5 ( DE Contain ) Control S and spread out LB's
Nickel 3-3-5 ( Cover 3 Flat ) Control CB on side running back is lined up onComment

Re: How do you stop screens?
I just use manual coverage to shut them down. I was playing a buddy of mine who wasn't exactly a sim gamer, and he ran screens on nearly every 3rd down. I knocked his passes down a few times, hitsticked his RB a few times, and picked one pass off with Jon Beason and took it to the house.
Manual coverage is the best way to stop anything if you work at improving your stick skills.Bears | Bulls | Cubs | Illinois | #Team3Some
