In the first year of my Notre Damy dynasty (shameless plug, link in sig) - there were a few Cinderellas. South Florida went undefeated, won the Fiesta Bowl, finished 13-0 and #8.

Boise went 11-2, losing to Oregon in the first week. They made a BCS bowl but lost to Florida State, who had upset Georgia Tech in the ACC Championship game.
