Re: NHL 10 Patch Available, Post Impressions Here
lovin' this game. At first I thought I couldn't score, but every game is different. Just beat the islanders 2-0 with the Caps, but also won a game 8-4 against the flyers. I am 6-2-2 so far after 10 games. Very realistic. This is on Pro level.Comment

Re: Thoughts on NHL 10?
No sliders here, just All Star difficulty.
I am 4-9-2 to start my year with Chicago. I'm having trouble scoring. But pro is just too easy. Any tips on building a great dynasty team?Comment

Re: NHL 10 Patch Available, Post Impressions Here
I was hoping it was just a bit of a quirk with the first few games I played post patch, that even with the cpu's pass accuracy set at 0...the cpu was back to tape to tape passing.
But after several games now, in my experience anyway...the cpu's passing is near perfect again. Pre-patch, I could really tell the cpu pass ACC was at zero. Now, 0 seems more like default. Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?1969 NFL ChampionsComment

Re: Thoughts on NHL 10?
I'm really enjoying this years game.
For me...All-Star level provides a very solid and fun challenge. With the GM mode...yeah, theres a few "WTH's" going on, here and there. But overall, I really look forward to playing the games. Most fun I've had with a sports game in quite awhile.1969 NFL ChampionsComment

Re: NHL 10 Patch Available, Post Impressions Here
I'm seeing the cpu's pass pct to be anywhere from 81-84%, with slider at 0 (on DM's all-star cpu no cheat sliders), with my pct being anywhere from 78-81%. Are these pct's ok, or should i be looking for better results.
Also, I would like to know who else went from playing on Pro diff to All-Star post patch. I was on DM's "Pro-Sim" sliders before patch and was having good games, and still struggling, but after patch, the game seemed "dumb" on Pro. So i had to move it to All-Star and am liking it (post patch, with this slider set). Anyone else find Pro non-playable post patch?JUST WIN BABY!!Comment

Re: Thoughts on NHL 10?
For the most part, this is a fantastic game. Gameplay is terrific, with response movements and smoothly flowing animation. I couldn't score to save my life, but tinkering with the sliders has given me an enjoyable balance. There are certainly issues with the sim engine in Be a GM, but the way it is set up, with the scouting and the ability to trade during the draft, is a blast. I have had numerous freezing issues in this mode, though, so I would suggest you save early and often (different save points, not a single save). I also love the way fighting is now handled - the ability to start a fight whenever I want (like to get my team going) is a great addition. If they could tune the sim engine, and solve the freezing issues, this would be an absolutely perfect game.Comment

Not to derail things, but I'm pretty confident there is an Impressions Thread: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...thread-60.html
Edit: And of course, after I post this, they unsticky the impressions thread.Last edited by Broncos86; 11-03-2009, 02:34 PM.Comment

Re: NHL 10 Patch Available, Post Impressions Here
CPU pass percentage is definitely higher post-patch unfortunately. They are consistently above 80% now, whereas pre-patch I could hold them in the upper 60% to 70% range. Not a good change IMO, but I'm sure it was done for the casual gamers."And by the way, you know, when you're telling these little stories? Here's a good idea - have a POINT. Re: NHL 10 Patch Available, Post Impressions Here
Sure you can. There are plenty of goals in the NHL where a guy just beats a goalie on a clean wrister with no screen. If it's a good enough shot that's placed properly, it can happen, especially with guys like Ovechkin and Kovalchuk. Why do people complain about not scoring clean goals.... I score them off wristers and slappers all the time. It's probably the way people play. You can't score cleanly on a goalie if he can see you all the way. Try to get infront of a defender or forward and either wrist it or do a half slap shot (don't pull the right stick down all the way to do the slapper).New Jersey Devils- 1995, 2000, 2003

Re: NHL 10 Patch Available, Post Impressions Here
Has anyone actually found out what the average passing completion percentage is for an NHL team is??
I have scowered the internet and have yet to find any sort of passing percentages for NHL teams.
I think EA should just do away with that stat and then everybody would quit looking at it and judging the game by it.
It is just too subjective a topic, what is a missed pass, one that doesn't go tape to tape, but the player still gets control, or one that misses the target altogether?
I have seen many games of hockey and do not see a lot of missed passes, unless they are deflected by someone or stolen. I recently watched a hockey game and on one powerplay the Leafs, yea I said the Leafs
, passed the puck over 20 times, d-man to d-man to the saide wall, back to the d-man, etc. Not one pass was incomplete, so in my opinion the NHL passing percentages are probably at least 80%.
Like I said, if EA would get rid of that stat, people wouldn't be calling it a problem.
Passing percentage means nothing.Comment

Re: NHL 10 Patch Available, Post Impressions Here
I wouldn't say it means "nothing", as you definately don't a game of near perfection(NHL 09). Hockey is a sloppy sport. I do agree though, it needs to be determined what exactly constitutes a missed pass. Also with EA's open ice passing, would the cpu count those as missed passes simply because they weren't directly to a player? It would be nice to know the actual NHL Passing Pct. Average, but I imagine it's relatively high(75-85%). I don't see too many errant passes when watching a game, but I'm not really watching for it either, so who knows. In any case, the stat does mean something to those of us of want to try to replicate the NHL as much as possible.Has anyone actually found out what the average passing completion percentage is for an NHL team is??

Re: NHL 10 Patch Available, Post Impressions Here
Yep Flyer, this is just about what I'm experiencing too.
For me...it's not really so much about the "numbers", as it is the affect on the gameplay. As I posted earlier...pre-patch, [with ACC at 0] the cpu imo, was missing on a realistic amount of their passes. Ie...the slider was effective. Now it seems as though it's not.
I don't want to do anything too hasty. But I'm thinking about possibly deleting the patch. I think I'll play a few more games then make my decision.1969 NFL ChampionsComment

Re: NHL 10 Patch Available, Post Impressions Here
So I was a little worried by my offline first game after the patch (last week) after I trounced the Devils 6-1 with the Penguins. I was able to do more or less what I wanted offensively, thanks in large part to the improved manual passing. But it just seemed like the AI was too passive... maybe it was just NJ's strategies.
Last night, I raised CPU pass interceptions to the max -- had it at 3 to offset slow passes -- and with no other changes proceeded to lose my first three games of a GM mode with Buffalo. The first two were one-goal games (aside from an ENG in the 2nd), while I screwed myself in the 3rd by giving them 8 PPs (!) of which they converted two. Needless to say I didn't generate much offense with so much time on the kill.
So yeah... just an impression.Comment

Re: NHL 10 Patch Available, Post Impressions Here
CPU is around 70-75% for me, post-patch. There have been a couple of games where they've been close to 80, but no 85-90% games.
CPU seems to shoot less (I only play on 9 min. periods, so this may be a factor) than they did, pre-patch, but it's not a huge margin.
Now, I just need to figure out how to score again, lol. I've scored a total of 2 goals in my last 5 games, and have lost my last 3 all by shutout. Having Stastny out is really starting to affect my team.Currently Playing:
