How do you perform a pro-hop/euro-step

...manuver? The little blip on the screen says move the L-stick left or right - but here's the deal: I'm already moving the L-stick torwards the hoop, otherwise it's not gonna be a dunk or layup. Does anyone else think this is totally whack? Please explain it to me, because I want the game to look real. And it doesn't look as real as it should when my players are never taking their 2 steps to dunk.

Also, since no one responded in my other thread, is the "drop step" post move removed? Ever since the patch added the click R-stick to post up control, the turbo+R-stick doesn't = drop step.

Why doesn't EA include post controls online or in the instruction book?

I love how no one can explain the controls in this forum. Truly indicative of poor communication/weak instruction book.

      To do the hop-step/Euro-Step

1.you're running straight down the lane, lets assume left/right (braodcast veiw)

      2. Give the left stick a flick down or up right before you press shoot. The momentum will keep you going towards the hoop so you wont turn.

3.It works best about 15-18 feet out. Try it in the practice arena

Rock, this is your boy Jingle Johnson. All the pre-release videos I've seen were more hype geared, such as "we're giving you more control look at this sick footage." However Mike Wang's off ball control video opened up the whole game for me. I tried watching the alley oop video but for some reason it stops at about 1:45 into it, and from that alone, told me nothing I don't already know (I already use Nash and STAT). Look forward to our next game.

Thanks, I'll give this a shot. And if I'm playing on baseline high cam, would it be flick the stick left/right?

Sorry to get testy. It should be easier.

EDIT: After reviewing, it's hit or miss. Usually the player just performs a step back or similar move (or even a spin - which is confusing since it's normally only performed with the right stick), resulting in a stopped drive, and a jump shot. No way I'd trust this when I needed 2 points.

                Correct.

Try doing from way further than you think. Try it as soon as you get inside the 3 pt line

I was playing a kid last night that was performing these at will. Including directly under the hoop after a rebound. Obviously it's possible, I'm not even close though.

You really just have to move the L analog stick to the opposite side of where you're driving. So if you're driving to the hoop from the left side, you need to move the left analog stick to the right so that you can attempt to use your right hand to lay it in on the right. etc...

You sometimes pro hop, you sometimes spin.

Re: How do you perform a pro-hop/euro-step

Thanks guys. You're absolutely right about having to do it further out than you think.

The way I see it, I think this move is contextual with the camera. If you're playing broadcast view going towards the hoop on the right side of the court from the top of the key (meaning your holding L-stick to the right) you push the L-stick down or up for the move.

Conversely, if you're coming in from baseline (holding L-stick up or down), it's left or right for the hop or spin.

Basically the opposite controls of the control direction you need to get to the hoop from where you are coming from. If you go to and away from the hoop with up or down, pro hop is left or right. To or from the hoop left or right, pro hop is up or down.
