Are you using the same sliders as pre-patch? If so that could be the problem. If you're not worried about any Association progress or time put into My Player, I'd advise trying to start from scratch as best possible. I did so and it did wonders - deleted everything except my saved replays. I even started playing off the CD instead of from installed to the HD when I noticed a lot more animations playing online than in single player. Right now I'm playing straight Pro, no slider adjustments at all and loving it. Not saying it's perfect, but it plays really well and given all the slider and gameplay options that can be adjusted, there's plenty of room for tweaking/tuning something here or there to taste. For me, fouls are on the low side most games but it's nothing that's irritated me much. Post-patch I think 2K did a great job getting the game to be mostly balanced using straight default sliders.
Of course depending on individual skill level someone might have to move up or down but overall this is the first sports game I've played in a while where I'm able to enjoy single player using straight default sliders. Sort of harkens back to the old Dreamcast/PS1 early PS2/XBox days when there were only difficulty levels that could be adjusted - and for the most part we accepted the games as they were at their core.
