The thing is, this game really is just an update. The presentation, the addition of motion offense, the Live engine, and the tweaks to dynasty mode are pretty much all thats been added to this game. I won't say they are the only things added, as I'm not sure what new things, if any, have been applied to online, but we all know they aren't groundbreaking.
I can't chime in on what separates this from the NBA game(s) because I don't have a retail copy of Live. And that reason alone is partly my point as to why I'm enjoying this game as much as I am. I have nothing to compare it to other than its predecessor. Thats it. I could compare the demos I guess, but even then its not the total package.
This game, outside of maybe presentation, doesn't do anything groundbreaking. I doesn't do anything that hasn't been done before and arguably better. If you're looking for something "different" in this game, outside of presentation, that will set it apart from other basketball titles both old and new, you'll be trying to find a needle in a haystack, imo.
The game is solid. Its college basketball. It captures enough of the atmosphere and the gameplay of the sport, that its an enjoyable title for me.

By no means am I an expert in video games but I would guess that adding TWO true to life presentations in one year not only took a decent amount of time, but also probably took up alot of their budget. I don't imagine ESPN or CBS gave the rights up to those things for nothing. I would think that after this year they can spend all their time doing tweaks and making modifications and customizations since they have a solid engine and presentation to build off of.
