Why can't players have 100 Rating

i got my new nfl 2k5 and i was surprised with the rating player like randy moss, Marvin Harrison, Torry Holt, TO were like 100 rating.

this is great because it separates the hall of fame truly elite to normal elite player i think madden should have this. what do you think.

and im not trying to start a madden and 2k fight.

I am kind of confused by this question.. the number is arbitrary. You need a limit of some kind.

    Why can't you have 101s in 2k5?

Lmao you can with finns editor. Aside from that, do you really think a guy with 100 rating stands out from a 98? He wont so what number it ends with doesnt really matter.

I said no, but only because I interpreted the question as referring to the overall rating, which I believe is arbitrary. I have no problem with players being rated 100 in specific areas though. In fact, I think the best at each attribute should be rated 100.

I guess Madden is trying to curve against history instead of curving the grade against current players.

Because a 100 rating implies a perfect player IMHO. No one has ever exhibited perfection on the field. Even Peyton Manning throws bad passes; even Randy Moss drops balls. Champ Bailey gets burned sometimes.

No player is perfect. Plus in Madden a 99 is the same as a 100 in NFL 2K5. There is a limit of 99 overall, but some 99s are better than others. The game already does a fantastic job at ratings IMO, this is one of the least of my concerns.

              Why can't they have a 100 rating?

Because none of them are named Jesus Christ from the University of Nazareth. He played safety, of course.

But what if I decide to create a safety named Jesus Christ?

Call me a homer but I truly believe the only player deserving of 100 in any attribute is Chris Johnson in speed.

There is absolutely no player in the NFL who can run him down from behind.

The only reason why I voted yes was because I think that a 100 just looks better then having a 99 lol otherwise there really isnt a reason to increase it by one. Even then its only in the perspective that I was raised that 100 was the best thing you could get(test scores performance grades ect ect) and may not look or feel the same to the average joe next to me.

                            Maybe it's a formatting thing.

Like in some of the old Final Fantasy games, if the characters could get 10000 HP, it would throw the look of the screen off.

Of course, doesn't explain why damage was capped at 9999 for the longest.

I voted yes with qualifications. I think a player could have a 100 rating in a particular attribute, but max out at 99 as far as overall. For example, I believe Avery had a 100 speed rating in Head Coach, but did not have a 100 rating in any other attribute or in his overall. I'm not sure it would work in Madden though. I remember Devin Hester always had a a 100 speed rating when I would start my franchise, but it would drop to 99 when I would start my 'chise.
