                              ************BREAKING NEWS***************

                              Blacksburg, VA -
At a press conference earlier today with head coach of the Virginia Tech Hokies Frank Beamer, a huge announcement was made at Lane Stadium infront of a full house:

Beamer - "I gathered everyone here today, one day after our Sugar Bowl victory and a night full of celebration, to address my future and the future of the Virginia Tech Hokies. I told everyone that the focus should be on the players and not myself until the timing was right. We ended an amazing season a strong note, and now we are officially in the off-season.

I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on everything Virginia Tech and my players have done for me over the years. For decades, I have been blessed with the opportunity to lead this team out of the tunnel every Saturday, with a cast of young men who are willing to put their hearts out on the line for their fellow brother's in maroon and orange. When it comes to the game of football, it is more to it than just a "game." To me, it is family. Family is key. Without these young men who fight, scratch, and claw year in and year out, I would not have near the illustrious career that I have had. I have had an amazing coaching staff to support me throughout my years as well, and without them, none of this would be possible. The community, the millions of Hokie fans around the world, and our supporters have all contributed into making Virginia Tech who it is today: A top tier school of prominence. From the bottom of my heart, to all of the players past and present, this community, this staff, this school, and to our Hokie Nation, I would like to say thank you - thank you so much for your support."

                              ***applause***

"With that said, some of you may or may not have heard that there were rumors that I would either be replaced or that I would leave Virginia Tech. I can confirm, with great pride and enthusiasm, that I was contacted by Notre Dame, and I have been selected to become the new head coach for the Fighting Irish. This is a huge moment in my life, as a coach, and it was simply an offer that I could not refuse. Becoming the head coach of the pennacle of college football teams is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and it allows me to travel a new path with my career. Many of us set goals in our life, some that may never be reached, and this opportunity allows me to finally conquer one of my childhood dreams. I will take every moment, every play, every second of every quarter of every game that I have experienced in my tenure with the Hokies, and I will apply that to my new career with Notre Dame. Again, from the bottom of my heart folks - THANK YOU!!!!!!!

To take this a step further, many of you may be confused and wondering what is going to happen to the vacant head coaching job of Virginia Tech now that I will be leaving. I would like to take this opportunity to pass this over to Bud Foster, the new head coach of the Virginia Tech Hokies!"

                              **applause**

Foster - "Thank you Frank. Everyone - I am not usually good at talking infront of large crowds like this, as I usually like to keep to myself and stay out of the spotlight, but I believe I can make an exception for such an announcement! (laughs) Hokie fans, I would like to say thank you for all the support through my years as defensive coordinator, and sticking with this program through thick-and-thin, and showing up every Saturday and becoming the loudest 68,000 person stadium in the country. As the new head coach of the football team, I vow to follow in Frank Beamer's foot steps and stick to the morals that Frank taught me over the years. It is going to be hard to follow the tremendous trail of success that Frank has left behind, but I am going to do my damndest to keep this school such a prominent icon in college football. We are setting our goals high, more resources will be put in place for recruiting, we will be changing out schemes and our plan-of-attack, we will have a new look, and we will be playing new teams. But the thing that will never change, is that at the center of all of this, our one principle: family.

It is a sad day in Hokie nation to hear that Frank will be leaving town, but I have an announcement that should bring back joy and excitement in each and every Hokie fan here today. Starting this fall (2013 season), Virginia Tech Hokies will begin participating in an annual exhibition match against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, beginning at Notre Dame this year. This will become a huge match-up in college football, and should produce those type of nail-biting games that the Hokies have produced over the years. Everyone, get ready for some football!!!!!

Thank you all for your time, and I look forward to walking out of that tunnel on Saturdays, leading this team on our new journey and new path to success, and to all the support that Hokie-nation will provide. My goal and ambition is to bring a National Championship to Blacksburg, and I will NOT rest until WE make this happen! Thank you!"

                              ****APPLAUSE****

[here is my list of changes for the 2013 season]

-switching from Virginia Tech playbook to multiple offensive playbook (VT book is now Notre Dame's with Frank Beamer as head coach)
-switched to 3-4 defense over 4-3 defense (4-3 defense is now at Notre Dame)
-will be using more blitz/man packages over zone
-new home and away uniform combinations
-introducing more of a run/option style offense with a run first, pass second mentality
-Psychosocial by Slipknot will be played at the start of every 4th quarter (see SECelites audio file under stadium music - he made this especially for me)

                              Schedule:

                              - @ USC #10
