There is only some partial truth to that IMO. It is more determined by what team the cpu is using. I primarily play a 2-3 zone and my opponents so far have averaged slightly less than 10 3pt attempts per game unless I am playing Duke. This is on 20-minute halves as well. Admittedly, I havne't played many teams with the caliber of 3pt shooters of Duke but most college teams will attempt at least 15 threes a game regardless of the defense played against them.
I checked
www.statsheet.com and found that Evansville attempted the least number of threes last year among all 343 division 1 teams. They averaged 10 attempts per game. Yale attempted the second least least in absolute number but still averaged 12 a game. Georgetown was around the midpoint for threes taken and had an average of 18 per game. No matter which way you slice it this game needs more three point attempts by the cpu.
