    Knight School - Coaching Legacy of Bob Knight

    West Point, NY - It was announced today the sudden retirement of head basketball coach Jim Crews. A young coach named Bob Knight was named as his successor. Coach Knight is a graduate from Ohio State University and was also a guard on the basketball team during his time there.

    Coach Crews leaves after guiding the Black Knights to a 15-16 record, 4-10 in the Patriot League. The 15 wins represents their most wins in a season in 22 years.

                Golden Gophers Crush Black Knights, 91-46

                First Half

                Brown nails a couple of jumpers and after he makes two free throws, Brown banks in a jumper. Tollackson and Nelson trade layups then after Nelson and McKenzie trade fast break layups, McKenzie banks in a layup to pull Minnesota to within six, 12-6, with 15:00 remaining. Hoffarber and McKenzie bank in layups and after Tollackson banks in a short turnaround jumper to tie the game, Hedgecock puts in a layup. Johnson dunks home a rebound then Hedgecock banks in a jumper to give Army the lead, 16-14, halfway through the first half. Tollackson sinks a jump hook and after Walker lays in a rebound, Coleman slams home a dunk to tie the game. Smith lays in a rebound and hits a jumper then after Hence nails a 3pter, McKenzie converts a 3-point play and Smith stuffs in a dunk to give the Golden Gophers a six point lead, 27-21, with less than 5:00 to go. Tollackson and Brown trade jumpers then after Tollackson makes 1 of 2 free throws and McKenzie hits a 3pter, Brown swishes a jumper. Tollackson slams in a dunk and after Brown puts in a layup and Hence drops in a runner, Payton and Brown trade layups as Minnesota takes a six point lead into the break.

                Second Half

                Hence lays in a rebound and after Coleman nails a couple of jumpers, Walker lays in a rebound. Smith, McKenzie and Coleman each bank in layups then after Smith makes 1 of 2 free throws, Coleman banks in a short jumper as Minnesota jumps out on a 13-4 run to start the half and opens up a 15-point lead, 50-35, with just under 15:00 remaining. Doug Williams lays in a rebound then after Coleman swishes a short turnaround jumper, Coleman and Hedgecock trade short turnaround jumpers. Tollackson puts in a layup and after Walker makes 1 of 2 free throws, Tollackson lays in a rebound and Smith hits a short jumper to give the Golden Gophers a 20-point lead, 60-40, midway through the second half. Coleman and Jonathan Williams hit hooks and after Abu-Shamala banks in a layup on a fast break, Walker drains a couple of runners. Nolen nails a jumper and Jonathan Williams lays in a rebound then after Abu-Shamala makes two free throws and a 3pter, Nolen and McDonald trade layups as Minnesota is on a 17-6 run and now leads by 31, 77-46, with just under 5:00 to go. Westbrook puts in a layup and Hoffarber buries a couple of 3pters and after Abu-Shamala lays in a rebound, Hoffarber and Busch drop in layups as the Golden Gophers pull away for the win.

                            First Half

                            Brooks puts in a layup then after Brown makes two free throws and cans two more, Howard converts a 3-point play. Brown buries a jumper and after Potter banks in a layup, Brown drains a 3pter to give Army the lead, 9-7, with under 15:00 remaining. Shubik and Brown trade layups and after Sahan lays in a rebound, McDonald nails a 3pter. Sahan hits a layup then after McDonald makes two free throws and Hence drops in a layup on a fast break, Brooks sinks a short turnaround jumper. Marshall puts in a layup then Brewer and Sahan trade jumpers as the Black Knights hold a one point lead, 20-19, halfway through the opening half. Litke puts in a layup and after Walker tips in a rebound, Brooks and Brown trade layups. Walker nails a short jumper and lays in a rebound then after Shubik sinks a short fallaway jumper, Brown makes two free throws and Miller tips in a rebound to give Army a seven point lead, 32-25, with under 5:00 to go. Potter swishes a short jumper then after Walker drains a runner and Nelson makes 1 of 2 free throws, Hassan cans two free throws. Hence hits 1 of 2 free throws and Nelson banks in a layup and after Hassan buries a 3pter and a jumper, Hence drops in a layup to give the Black Knights a six point lead at the half. Army's Brown leads all scorers with 15 points and Hassan leads the Pioneers with 7.

                            Second Half

                            Brown makes two free throws then after Henley banks in a short fallaway jumper and Hardy cans two free throws, Shubik nails a 3pter. Hassan and Bates trade fast break layups and after Brooks hits 1 of 2 free throws and Shubik lays in a rebound, Hedgecock drains two free throws and Nelson converts a 3-point play to give Army the lead, 49-46, with 14:55 remaining. Nelson and Hassan trade layups then after Howard and Williams trade layups, Williams and Brooks trade layups. Brown drills a 3pter then Sahan buries a jump hook to pull Sacred Heart to within four, 58-54, midway through the second half.
