Re: Problems w/ Patch 2 ALREADY...

One LAST stats post before I go to sleep...

This time I just simmed to the second season of the Chise I just started.

Chris Johnson, Turner & Peterson all had a 2K+ rushing season.YPC were a bit more realistic this time around (No 7 YPC rushers, although there were 5 that had atleast 6 YPC)

Seems like every season atleast 3 rushers will have over 2,000 rushing yards....

Personally, I'd much rather have the old stats before the patch than this garbage.Either do it right or don't do it at all.

Well I think it depends on the QB rating. I just played against the Panthers as the Browns in my 2nd season. I traded for Vernon Gholston and turn him into a DE. It was him vs all-pro Jeff Otah on the right side and Gholston demolished him and got to Delhomme 8 times. I was manually rushing Gholston for 5 of the 8 sacks and the rest of them were AI-generated sacks. I bet you can't do this to Brady :P Delhomme was missing open WRs all game, and he stood in the pocket like an idiot.

I've come to realize that no matter how high you put the CPU pass blocking slider, you can still get to the QB easily with a swim move... Edge rushing is becoming less and less challenging

Its already common knowledge the HB stats would be off. Increasing the YPC for the backups does the same for the starters. Nothing he could do about it. I'll live with high RB totals. AT LEAST THEY SCORE TDS NOW.

What would be the point of waiting for ANOTHER patch?? It would come out in probably March.. lol.

              - eagles have the Jim Johnson tribute sticker on their helmet
-draft history for each player (so far, ive only noticed real nfl players...havent gone into my franchise yet)
-replays seem to be longer. i was able to view an entire kickoff return...pursuit angles that the kicking team took though we're rather questionable. maybe i can post the video later and see what yall think

thats it so far, ill see what else i notice before i go to sleep
ok, along with this stuff, i've noticed the following to this point:

              - of the three offensive tds scored so far in the game im playing...(one for 5 yds, one for 27 yds, and one for 59 yds) only one was replayed and it was the 27 yd pass. i also had a long play from my fullback replayed. so only 2 replays in 2 quarters of play to this point

-flat coverage...i noticed the CBs in cover 2 flat coverage still slightly rub off of the recievers but dont seem to drop back very far with the reciever. they seem to be discipline enough to stay in the flat area for the most part. ive only seen two instances where a pass was thrown that way and the defenders made plays on the ball pretty well. both times they recognized the ball was headed their way and ran toward the reciever. once ended in a swat, the other ended in a tackle.

              - i was able to get the quarterback twice without having to dive toward him before he could throw.

              - they also added just a tad bit more time of post play so cutscenes finish out alot smoother.

              - just got a interception return for a touchdown off of a duck pass from cpu...i was able to instant replay from the snap of the ball, all the way til my guy finishes his taunt in the end zone after running about 70 yds

Great, maybe this time Adrian Peterson & Turner will finish every season with atleast 3,000 yards and 30 TDs...oh and maybe 10 YPC.

Being a Lions fan, you must have to live optimistically. I tend to be more realistic though, and this is a joke.

Honestly don't see how it's common knowledge the stats would be off. The point of the PATCH is to make things better, more realistic...they just went in a whole other direction, instead of not enough yards and TDs they went for WAY too many yards and TDs.

Every time EA releases a patch to correct something, they tend to over do it. It's not on purpose, it just seems to happen.

Just have to learn to live with the over exaggerated rushing totals after the patch, seriously doubt there will be a third patch.

I don't care about how the stats look in your franchise mode. Tell me how the patch has affected the gameplay. What differences do you notice?

                        Re: Patch Impressions

Well I haven't played a full game yet, but so far i've seen a few new missed tackle animations (on my team sadly) where the back jukes and the defender falls and reaches out for the back as he passes, only being able to get a hand on him. Also, i tried a few swing passes and noticed at the snap the backer hauled towards the flats. My back got the ball, but he was tackled right away. I've been meaningto notice if cover 2 the CB's stay closer or not, but i keep forgetting.

haven't made any good pressure yet, (i am the lions after all) so i can't say either way about the QB holding the ball or not. But its late here on the east coast so i'll play more tomorrow to see if i notice anything.

I just saw this animation first time EVERY. Maybe it's been in the game sine the beginning and I just haven't noticed, or they tweaked it with patch#2:

My RB (franchise rookie LeMarcus Taylor, who is a BEAST btw) ran for a 9 yard gain between the tackle. Pro-Tak came into play and about 2 LBs and a DB or 2 came in for the tackle. My RB was able to stay on his feet while being pushed backwards for a couple yards, and then the refs blow the play dead without a single player on the ground. That is just what I've been looking for in the gameplay, realistic and it shows what a stud this rookie RB is... and I drafted him in the 5th round

i can't say after playing two games that there are huge differences. the most noticeable to anybody should be the way cover 2 is played. the cornerbacks in the flats slightly push off the wide reciever but remain in their designated zone. before this patch, they would bump the reciever about 5 yards back and not play up on their designated zone.

after playing against this a few times, i can tell it'll be much easier to eat up cover 2 now.

besides that i cant say i notice any huge gameplay altercations. the cpu is still throwing out of the sack a little too much to my liking. and the cpu qb is still moves perfectly throughout its own pocket to avoid defenders and the defenders dont come off the block in time to sack the qb before he throws.

replays are definetly longer so we can now fully view kick returns, punt returns, and long interception or fumble returns. there is slightly more time in post play to allow cut scenes to finish out, replays still don't seem very constant. i got a few so far but seems like the same few i woulda gotten before. that's about it. ill post if i notice anything more gameplay wise. im gonna play one more quick game and head to bed

is it just me or does the game seem like it is playing smoother and faster??? and ive broken a couple long plays and the stutter was nowhere to be seen!! i dunno.. i wish they would come out and tell us everything that they tweaked on the patch!! we all know for a fact that there was more done to it than they have stated in the blogs or whatever
