Re: Fight Night Round 4 Patch Available, Post Impressions Here
I do that and it does work. I like having their name in front of me too so it brings up some memory of who they are.Are you on the PS3 or 360? If you're on Xbox Live, there is the option of feedback after each match. I choose "avoid player" for ealry quitters or people who play like overall morons. There's also "prefer player" for players you feel are playing the way you enjoy. Just an FYI that the option is there so you wouldn't have to do it manually (unless you prefer it).
Any 360 owners that want to play sometime, my gamertag is "jsimas74". I'm always looking for sim matches.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

That's a really good idea. You should post this spreadsheet! The 2nd patch has given this game so much more playability for me. Never before did I think I'd go 10 rounds with a body spammer and almost win. I have noticed a new scheme with these guys though. They are now backing off to the point that you have to chase them around and then they body jab in rapid succession. After about 5 rounds they go to their roots, body spamming.
However, I have created a spreadsheet where I type in the username of my opponents and sort them by category. I have Abuser, Competitive and Quitter. When I go into WC mode I open my laptop and make sure the guys I fight are positive experiences. Matches last pretty long now, making time of the essence. It's just not worth going up against people that are going to ruin your experience.

Re: Fight Night Round 4 Patch Available, Post Impressions Here
I have fought three guys online and it is light years better. There is still some punch/block spamming, spinning and hay-spamming (sometimes all in one fight), but it is def. beatable now.
My first fight was my edited Liston (88 ovr) vs. a 6'8" Bruce Lee CAB. He spun and threw a lot of haymakers until he got tired of my jab and quit.
The second was a RJJ vs. Calzagne. This guy took Joe C. and intermittently spun and block flicked, but not so long it affected his stamina. I lost by decision.
The 3rd guy was in WC mode and he mostly spammed, which wasn't an issue. I am just rusty and still learning to adapt to the PS3 controls. He was ahead on all cards 8 rounds to 1 when I took an intentional DQ to take my dog out. It sounds like a cop out, but when she tells you 'I need to pee', you better get moving!
The jab works better, not enough but better, and there are still people averaging 90+ punches a rouns, but not without a penalty. I give this patch a huge thumbs up.Comment

was the guy wearing red and greyYou guys should know you never see me on here complaining about cheese. I can take or compete with most cheese to the level of just out boxing them using a strategy.
Well last night I crossed a cheese move in WC that made me want to break this guys legs. I am not positive on how he built his fighter. But I am just guessing all his points went to head movement and any other attribute that helps with the counter windows.
He literally hit me with ONLY counter window shots the whole match. Not only was it often but it was almost every single punch I threw would open up a counter punch window for him. Like I said I did not look over his ratings but all I can say is I have NEVER faced something like this.
It was crazy. It got to the point where I just ran from him for like 3 rounds throwing no punches just to frustrate him. Basically a stab at him for making such a boring excuse of a fighter. This guy was even getting counter window shots on me when I even through body punches. It was one of the stupidest things I have ever seen.
My other 4 or 5 matches were great. Some spammers that went down easy after a few rounds of them wasting punches and a couple sim guys. All in all for having the game so long and this is one of the few cheese things I have come across of. I am happy with the patch so far.Comment

Re: Fight Night Round 4 Patch Available, Post Impressions Here
Hey gentlemen, I really hate to ask, but I can't look through the whole thread. Is the game better now from the patches? I only played it pre patch. I liked it, but it lacked a lot. Im thinking about buying it now and just wanted to see if its worth it. Thanks!Comment

It depends on what your definition of lacking is. The patch didn't "add anything" just tweaked the gameplay a bit. If your looking for new manager modes, better boxer customization, or a change in the way legacy mode works, keep walking.
If you hated fighting spammers online and wished they had fixed it then plop it in and enjoy.

Re: Fight Night Round 4 Patch Available, Post Impressions Here
Played FNR4 online (PS3) for the first time today. First match in WC was a pretty good fight. It came down to a decision and my opponent won. Well anyway this guy was 254-132 I think and was pretty good with the head movement. I was sticking and moving with jabs and combinations. Sometimes I would get him with an uppercut that made him back up. Both men were beat up after the fight. Right after the decision, I get a message calling me a coward for running. Im like WTF? He wanted me to stand there and go toe to toe with him throughout the whole fight. I guess he was hoping to constantly get the counter window to pop up.Last edited by cjkool69; 12-11-2009, 06:10 PM.Comment

Ignore these d-bags. If he wants a bunch of brawling and quick fights to serve his lack of an attention span, he can go to UFC. Boxing isn't always Gatti Ward, it's also hit and be hit. Morons.Comment

LOL I think i am done with FNR4 online play. The button spammers are ridiculous on there. They need a feature on there that separates the button and stick players.
Also the foot speed is way too fast. It feels like im skating around ringComment

I think that's the main issue I have with the game right now. Because FN4 allows huge blows to be made, and because recovery is quick, you aren't rewarded for sticking and moving like you should be. Your only hope is to go all 10 rounds and win by decision.
Imagine if we could move around the ring and place jabs and then hit with a big counter punch and ruin the opponent for the fight. You jut can't do that in FN4. For starters, the knockdowns are too predictable. It's a given that the first knockdown will result in the guy getting up. The next level would be to base the ability to get up on how successful the punch was.
But, that would lose a lot of players. People want to see the big punches and FN4 is very forgiving if you get hit with multiple body/headshots.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Re: Fight Night Round 4 Patch Available, Post Impressions Here
I fought Tombsong today for the first time since the patch dropped. We've had good fights in the past, but not having that suction effect anymore makes so much of a difference. I need to start recording some of these battles because they've been pretty epic.
Before I played Tomb, there wasn't anyone online, so I decided to play some WC mode. The first two matches I played were awesome. My opponents boxed well and it ended up being a real chess match. In my final fight I ran across a bum. His defense was horrible and he threw pretty much nothing but haymakers. I just stayed out of his range and popped him with a million jabs while he tried to wind up for the big punch. Eventually I got tired of that so I swarmed him and threw a lot of combinations. He didn't feel that too much though, because he hit me with two headbutts when I did this.
I didn't want to catch another headbutt, so I went back to staying within jabs length for a while. For 3 rounds or so he kept backing up and throwing the same haymaker hook over and over again. I didn't want this guy to make it to the cards so I decided to go back to my swarm strategy and finish him off. Once I got him in the corner and unleashed some combos he hit me with another headbutt and I got the DQ win.
When I looked at my profile after the fight it said that my character, Walter Brown, was 3-0 with 3 KO's. Apparently they give you the KO win when someone does that. Not sure if that's always been the case, but that was cool to see. There's really no point in guys purposely getting DQ'd if the result is still gonna be the same. I really don't get some people.
Despite the last guy, I enjoyed my fights against randoms today. I think I might play more WC mode now.Comment

Hi pjv ,
I only play offline and from 6 months ago to now they have really improved this game 100 % in the ring .
They really tighten things up and I now have many options thru sliders to have incredible realistic fights .
I bought it from best buy.com for $14.99 last week and by far my biggest bargin ever in a video game .
But I wouldnt purchased DLC boxers ect as you can find better or equal cab online plus EA dont even has any dialog or presentation .
PS button control also saves wear and tear on the sticks of your controller
