It makes it unberable for me. For those who don't seem to understand why stats are such a big deal, the answer, and I'm sure I speak for you as well, is that for us, the fun is in simulating a real NFL season, so that the results are true to life and could be a real season/course of seasons. If that doesn't happen, I become bored and lose interest.

I used to be the same way about 10 yrs ago. Our three kids are older and I barely have time to play a season out anymore before it's on to some other sports game.It makes it unberable for me. I just don't have the time to get bugged about it, anymore.
It's different for everyone.Comment

10 yrs ago there weren't patches to fix crappy game play and lousy stats. It was just plug in and play and have fun.
I'm starting to really take in the have fun part, again. I just can't worry like I used to where is the next stat coming from and how far off is it from the NFL avg. I just don't have the time or the patience as I did 10 yrs ago.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Patch #2 Available, Impressions Here (360)
O.K... Here is a sample, just simmed year one.
S. Jackson 2,410 yards, 21 TD 7.1 YPC
A. Peterson 2,230 yards, 20 TD 6.1 YPC
M. Turner 2,038 yards, 16 TD 6.2 YPC
F. Gore 1,976 yards, 22 TD 6.3 YPC
R. Grant 1,934 yards 15 TD 6.1 YPC
Other stats...
P. Manning 5,138 50 Td 13 Int
T. Cole 25.5 Sacks
D. Ware 21.5 Sacks
H. Ngata 20.0 Sacks
Year 2
M. Turner 2,525 yards, 26 Td 6.6 YPC
A. Peterson 2,260 yards, 22 Td 6.3 YPc
F. Gore 2,176 yards, 25 Td 6.4 YPC
R. Grant 2,067 Yards, 15 Td 6.9 YPC
M. Lynch 1,979 Yards, 13 Td 6.3 YPC
Other stats...
D. Dockett 27.0 sacks
Antonio Smith 21.5 sacks
J. Peppers 19.5 sacks
Cameron Wake 18.5 sacks
L. Jackson 18 sacks.
That's enough for me. Totaly out of control stats...
There have been what, five 2,000 yard rushers in the modern era. Now we get that every year in Madden. Gotta love the 2,400-2,500 hundered yard guys every year too.
What a joke, for guys that only play offline chise like me... This patch is a farce.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Patch #2 Available, Impressions Here (360)
I dont exactly have the patch(or the game for that matter) yet, but in all honestly, are the stats unbearable? I know they are bad, but does it make it impossible to play franchise and really enjoy it? All I do is play franchise, but I play all of my teams games, except maybe pre-season every once awhile. So gameplay is important to me, but franchise longevity and stats are just as important. But if they are bad, I can tolerate it, but if its unbearably unrealistic, then IDK...
It's not "unbearable" for me, but it is rather unrealistic based on the sims I've seen others post up.
That said, my issues with franchise are with the mode itself outside of stats (needs more in several areas in my view to make it just a little more than just a string of Play Now-ish games).
Stats could be perfect and it wouldn't make me more bullish on franchise so them being out of whack doesn't make me more bearish.
Granted, I wouldn't want them to look like it does and of course welcome a fix from EA as I don't want to have to control all teams or lower stats to make it work (nor should it be the community's constant task to tweak the game to get to be modern-NFL-like) as well as you put it, the chances of our players making any awards/Pro Bowls is hurt significantly, but it's not a death blow for me as it is for others.Last edited by KBLover; 12-11-2009, 11:00 PM."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

In 2 quarters, I had 7 fumbles, 6 for turnovers, Brees against me was 21-22 with an INT for 265 yards, was hitting bombs, shorts, my D wasn't covering a guy every play.
So far if this is the patch, I want the old version back. I will deal with the chain gang and no sacks.Comment

The thing is, I'm so used to that from Madden 07 and 08 on PS2. If only there was a way a group of us could pull off a Madden Manifesto like 05...That's enough for me. Totaly out of control stats...

Not sure if this is from the patch, but I had one of my guys do a legit sideline catch in the one game that I've played post-patch. I was so excited when I saw it.NFL: Bills

Re: Madden NFL 10 Patch #2 Available, Impressions Here (360)
I have now played 3 full games on default (no sliders), and so far I really feel like the gameplay is improved. My games are not high scoring affairs now. They used to be shootouts without slider adjustments, but my scores post patch #2 are 20-13, 31-10 (cosmetic FG at end), and 16-12 so far.
I love how you can actually sack the CPU QB sometimes now. They can still get rid of the ball, but it just seems a lot more legit. I have seen more offline CPU QB throws now too. No doubt about that.
I personally think that they must have tweaked the CPU pass defense. I used to rip them apart (played the same 3 teams in early franchise mode before), but the CPU is better now. Maybe the pass rush is actually better.
Also, I feel like the CPU is learning my tendencies more now. I can't keep using the same plays over and over as much without mixing it up.
I feel like I have to mix the run and pass more.
I feel like the CPU QB runs more now when things break down, but maybe its just coincidence.
They still blitz too much without coach slider adjustments it seems.
The CPU still snaps the ball too quickly.
Chain gang cutscene doesn't come as much, and seems to come more at the right times. I haven't noticed any increases in replays yet personally.
Don't know what to think about screens. Seems just as easy for the human player, and not as easy for the CPU.
Pursuit angles are GREATLY improved.
Flats coverage seem better imo unless you call the wrong plays.
From what people say here the long term stats are screwed up, I haven't looked into that, but I like the gameplay so much better, that I can live with the bad stats, even though it isn't ideal. This would be a killer in a baseball game for me and many other people since stats are so big in baseball especially. But, I can understand how some football fans would really want good sim stats.
I am pretty happy with the game overall now.

Re: Madden NFL 10 Patch #2 Available, Impressions Here (360)
You bring up a really good point. This is definitely a problem. It's important to me to be able to compete in stats (I play all of my games and don't sim any).its a problem to those of us who play all our games too because in those categories(rushing, and defensive categories that involve sacks), we can never compete and we'll never have players in the running for awards or porbowl voting because the CPU team stats are so extreme.Comment

I agree with you on this man. Me and my friend just started a franchise today and I played my first pre-season game vs. the Redskins, I lose 27-24. It was a great game tho...I enjoyed every second of it.I have now played 3 full games on default (no sliders), and so far I really feel like the gameplay is improved.
