College Hoops 2k8 or NCAA Basketball 10??
I'm trying to figure out what game I want to invest my time in. I just bought CH2K8 for $10 and from what I hear, it is the best SIM college b-ball game to date, but considering it isn't up to date as far as graphics and such (I know about the '09-'10 rosters can be downloaded). I heard and saw that NCAA Basketball's presentation is pretty sick, but the gameplay can be challenging.

Re: College Hoops 2k8 or NCAA Basketball 10??
U better try both and decide for yourself...
CH2k8 is very challenging and deep but i found it very frustrating without serious sliders tweaking... Also beware Ps3 version cuz is very poor compared to 360 (jaggies and lag on some stadiums). Get for 360 if u can. Spacing is also vastly inferior and u feel somewhat an old gen game.
Otherwise NCAA 10 is a very fun game, presentation is unbelievable, atmosphere is stellar, grafx is very nice (gotta love some courts, damn!), PS3 version is on par with 360, u can tweak sliders for a more simlike game, but this is once and for all an easy pick up game and anyone bb junkie devoted to deepness can get tired pretty fast.
This is it, is up to u. Personally there's no way i can back to CH2k8.Last edited by Omega Kid; 12-18-2009, 08:08 AM. -

Just to add to what Omega said, I have 2k8 for both the 360 and the PS3 and just about agree with what Omega wrote. I also have NCAA 10 for the PS3. If you do get NCAA 10 I suggest the PS3 version. It seems the freezing issue seems to be a lot more abundant on the 360 version than the PS3 version. Apparently it happens on both but more on the 360. I've never had a freeze and I've been playing on the PS3 for a month or so.
See this thread for documentation on the freezing issue: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...ing-issue.html
Not sure if EA still has the offer to buy it for $41.95 but I provided a coupon for you to check and buy through the link here: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...-ea-store.html----------

I have 2k8 and NCAA 10 and I loved College Hoops so freaking much but, I wanted to try NCAA for the presentation and the game has me hooked. I think that you will have to play both and decide.Gaming hard since 1988

Re: College Hoops 2k8 or NCAA Basketball 10??
The more NCAA I play, the more I am really enjoying it. CH2K8 is a great game, but the on court spacing, and offensive motion in NCAA make going back to 2K's game really tough. NCAA has it's issues that are annoying at times, but there is a lot of fun to be had if you are a fan of college basketball.
Overall 2K8 is a deeper dynasty experience, but I think NCAA provides a more rewarding experience on the court once you master the games controls for setting up and running your offense.
As someone who has played non stop 2K8 for 2 years, it was just time for a change. To be perfectly honest though, you can't go wrong with either.Christian McLeod--EA Sports NBA Live/Madden NFL Producer

Re: College Hoops 2k8 or NCAA Basketball 10??
CH 2k8 feels like a last-gen game now. Yes, it does offer a deeper dynasty mode, but NCAA 10 is just more fun, to me, gameplay wise. The way the CH2k8 players run looks funny (kindof like they have something up their behinds.) I just can't get past that. I used to absolutely LOVE CH2k8, but that was a long time ago. After doing slider adjustments, you will love NCAA 10. The sim logic is also very good. Realistic, believable records and statistics. Have fun!Comment

Re: College Hoops 2k8 or NCAA Basketball 10??
Dynasty in 2k8 a lot better then 2010.
Reasons:
2k8 had all preseason tourneys
2010 recruiting only allots you points for the season
Summer Recruits cannot be seen during in-season recruiting, therefore I dont remember my roster needs
Scheduling is ridiculous (Conference games on back to back nights, not proper allotment home/away on conference games, if you build up a good team no small school will play you at your place)Comment

Basically if you a dynasty hardcore nut, 2k8. If you love the college game as a whole, when its not freezing, NCAA 10 is a good game, online is dead though. With some sliders you can make this game 90% sim.Comment

Re: College Hoops 2k8 or NCAA Basketball 10??
My thing is I want to be able to play random games on a given day, not just one team's games in a season. From what I understand you can't do that on NCAA 10, right? After more than eight years on here, I finally figured out how to edit my time zone!Comment

Re: College Hoops 2k8 or NCAA Basketball 10??
In real life, big schools get the smaller schools to come play at their school based on money. The small schools make almost between 40-60 k just to come to a major conference school.
However, in this game they dont do that. Any small school refuses to play you because they say your talent is too good for them, and the only way you can play these "cupcakes" is to play on the road, which is why I had to schedule games @ Albany, @ Appalachian St., even though this would never happen in real life.
They also dont let you pick a day to play them. They just say, "We'll see you on ..." and just ignore your schedule completely. For example, I tried to find a game with 3 different teams and they kept agreeing to play me the day after I played another team at a completely different location.
So consensus, the only teams you can really play at home at major conference teams, and you really don't customize your schedule to your liking. I hope thats what you meantComment

What do you mean by that? I know when I went to season 2, my schedule was crazy. I had no games against my non-conference rivals (URI and Boston College) and was playing ridiculous games like @ Eastern Washington. So I removed a bunch of these games.

Re: College Hoops 2k8 or NCAA Basketball 10??
I dont think you got what I was saying.
What I was stating was that I was the preseason #19 team in the country going into year 2. When my computer generated schedule came out, there were some good games on there, and some not so games on there.
What I didnt like was how none of my rivals were there. I'm sure if you brought Temple into year 2 of a dynasty in this game they would not be scheduled with any of the Big 5 opponents, or whatever its called.
Now, in an attempt to keep it realistic, URI should have been coming to Providence, and I should be going to Boston College. I had no problem convincing BC, but when I tried to get URI to come play at my place, they said "Your team is too good" and would only play me if I went to their place, where I still beat them by like 30. However, how is it fair to my program is my rivals will only face me at their school?
Essentially, I could only get high-ranked teams or other major or high mid-majors (Charlotte) to come play on my court, and even that was like pulling teeth. I wasnt going to play many high ranked teams since I got invited to Maui, so I was looking to fill out my schedule with easy games at home (real-life scenario), but most of these teams refused to play me. Providence plays Brown every year, but they would not play me. Therefore, I was forced to play these stupid schools on the road or not at all, when in fact they would die to come play at my place due to the financial tidings we would throw at them.
Without a budget for teams or contracts with teams, the schedule seems like it would be a mess from year to year.
Between that and the stupid recruiting, I'm not really digging it. For recruiting, my recruits essentially change names. I recruited a guy by 1 name, and in the season he has another name. It doesnt make any sense but its ok. My team is still winning, despite a scheduling issue.Comment
