    Re-Building or Dominance?

    Just wondering what you guys like to do more in NCAA 10 dynasty mode between taking a bad team and making them good, or taking an established team and keeping them that way.

    Personally, my team is Wisconsin so I am in the middle of Re-Building and on the verge of a BCS bowl. I like that they aren't terrible, but i like they aren't great either.

    So just wondering, glad to see your input.

    I like to start out as a crappy team like Idaho, and get better jobs as the dynasty goes along.

      I usually take a bad team, build them up until I win the Nation Championship, then take the worst team over that span and repeat.

              I've found trying both ways to be difficult when I played as Baylor it was hard because of losing games to build them up and now that I have Florida I won the championship over Oklahoma my first season but my second season the sec has become much more competitive and I don't have my top 5 ranking anymore.

                  I think if you do strict "Sim Nazi" recruiting, you can do both.

                  It looks like Im going to win back to back titles with Notre Dame, in year 4 of my Dynasty, behind a absurdly high rated defense, but after this season, it looks like I'll be playing a boat load of true freshman on that side of the ball...so I expect to have a down year, or two.

                    Re: Re-Building or Dominance?

                    Every installation of NCAA I've ever played I usually follow the same pattern. Start with a middle of the road team and build them into a power, usually in a short time (4-5 seasons). After a few years of being close to national championship caliber I switch to one of the worst BCS teams. Once I build them back up (6-10 seasons) I go to a more traditional powerhouse and dominate.

                    These are the progressions I've used since I started playing NCAA 2003. One of the most fun and frustrating was taking Navy on NCAA 04 from a triple option team to pass heavy.

                    Arizona-->Navy-->FSU
                    Oklahoma St-->Indiana-->Clemson
                    Purdue-->Iowa St-->Alabama
                    Michigan St-->Miss St-->Nebraska

                      Re: Re-Building or Dominance?

                      I prefer rebuilding. Last years version, I took Vandy from the SEC (grant it in real life they had a pretty decent season) and built them up. Had some rough seasons (4-8,5-7), but after about 4 seasons won a National Championship and had a blast trying to win NCs in a row. This year I created a team via teambuilder (Tahlaquah Cherokees) replacing Baylor in the Big 12 (moved Baylor the Big 12 North and replaced Iowa St.). First season I managed to go 7-6 winning the Texas Bowl. The second season, I went a dismal 5-7. Highlight of season 2 was beating the #1 Ohio St. in both teams' final game of the season. Felt great ruining Ohio St.'s perfect season and possible National Championship run. Third season is about to start and I have great confidence in my team to make a bowl (unfortunately, I am not nice to myself and often schedule very tough out of conference games plus the Big 12 schedule results in very tough games). Season 2 I faced 9 top 25 teams out of the 12 games, including 4 in the top 10. This season I tried to be a bit nicer, but still am facing an A+ schedule strength. I have a blast trying to bring up my mediocre team, even while facing such an incredible schedule.

                        I always play as my Toledo Rockets and usually a BCS school. It's fun building up my Rockets but, I love taking a team like Notre Dame or Penn State and keeping them in the title hunt.
                        Gaming hard since 1988

                        I have won like 25 Super Bowls in Madden so I am kinda a big deal.

                            I almost always rebuild. Right now I'm playing in 2016 with MTSU and have them at six star prestige. My recruiting is getting better, and last year I had the 16th best recruiting class in the country, thanks to mostly three stars and a handful of four and five star recruits. It's really showing, because my team has a lot more depth, especially on defense. (I had three cornerbacks leaving for the NFL before I talked them all into staying on more year. My secondary is so deep my five star freshman cornerback is fifth on the depth chart, when a few years ago he would have been the highest rated player on my defense.) I just beat #1 Tennessee at Neyland 10-7 on a last second field goal, so I'm finally hoping that after years of never getting into the title game, I make it this season. I'm ranked 5th right now and hoping I don't get any surprises on the Heisman difficulty. I'm definitely putting more time into this game right away than my last one, and I plan on finishing out two more years on my 9 year contract and then switching schools, maybe take another powderpuff and build them up.

                            2010: MTSU (currently on 7th season)
                            2008: UL-Monroe, (4 years) San Jose State (2) Western Michigan (2)

                              What sliders are you playing with to get a 10-7 score? I would love that.
