    Few newbie questions... (2k9)

Been away from basketball games for many a year and I picked 2k9 up the other day. A few questions...

    1) Near the end of close games when I or the computer try to foul by putting both arms round the ball handler, no foul is given. All fouls are switched on. Any reason for this, or way of fixing it? This completely ruins the realism of forcing the opposition to go to the line.

    2) In some games in association my team just doesn't man-mark the opposition, leaving 3 opposition players open for 3-pointers. I have no idea why it does this, it's just like 1 game in 10 or something. Completely ruins that game. How do I get back to normal man-marking?

    3) My players rarely dunk when shooting with RT held down from under the basket area. Why?

    Thanks in advance!

I never had this happen, I think it's a bug. Have you patched your game?

I'm not sure what you mean, but maybe play with your team sliders...it's under the coach sliders I think.

It's the standing dunk rating. I don't believe it's editable unless you have patched your game.

For #1, try deleting the settings file NBA 2K9 creates, restarting your system, then creating a new settings file.

Regarding patching the game, this is automatic right? When I inserted the disc for the first time last week it patched the game.

I will try deleting the setting file. Will I need to create a new association game?

Yup, the patch is automatic. If you can edit the standing dunk attribute, then you have the patch.

I don't believe you have to delete your association. Just try deleting the settings file first and restarting to see if anything changes.

            Thanks Kully, it worked!!
I ended up starting a new association anyway (with a fantasy draft). Fouls are now given near the end of games and I am able to edit the standing dunk rating. Much more enjoyable!
