We Want The Cup, a 2K developer weighed in on a debate regarding unrealistic shooting mechanics in a user's highlight reel... Here's what he said:
I want to chime in on the one timer goal. The play was nice, the pass was nice, and the animation was nice. The only problem is that the player should have augmented a little toward the goal. Yes, this is a problem within the game, which by the way has nothing to do with the r-stick shooting (although the same problem does exist when you stickhandle and then shoot). But it doesn't give any advantage or disadvantage to a CPU goalie, as the puck is shot from exactly where it should be shot from. Only the player angle is off by about 45 degrees, maybe even 90.
What I mean to say is, nice goal. Doesn't end up looking like it should have, but that's not the fault of the player, it is the fault of the game.
That player was on the off-wing and in proper position. Definitely something we will try and fix, although admittedly it is hard to make it perfect in EVERY scenario. Depending on how early or late you press the shot button can determine how accurately the player will augment. You see it in both NHL games. It's not a perfect world hehe.<!--IBF.ATTACHMENT_300658-->
