Is there any way around the CPU bigs "catch and shoot" in the post thing??????????

I am getting 8 blocks a game just rejecting that crap. If you have a bigger defender on the CPU PF / C it's almost impossible not to block their shot as it's so predictable.

I tried not contesting the shots for a while as it's way too easy to block...but it's basketball man, I can't just ignore their shots in the post.

Is there any way around this?

CPU..***n play...across comes their PF / C...guard feeds him in the post...and you 100% know he's now going to get it, turn around and shoot.

All I have to do is bring over my bigger defender and I can block it every time almost.

If you turn down short range shooting to 40 or less and layup percentage for the AI to 35 it seems to help don't know why but I have notice somewhat of a difference.

Actually, this makes some sense. I've noticed that the cpu has a tendency to go to its strength. If short range shooting and layup success are turned down the cpu may not be as aggressive on those turnarounds in the post. I have those turned down as well. I don't think it makes a huge difference but it might make a little difference.

So to the guys who played the Cuse, they start in man on the first possession then go to zone pretty much the whole game? That's about what I remember when I played them a while ago. I think every team starts in man for the first possession. If that's in fact the case that's an extremely minor pet peeve.

I just have to say I've had this game since the day it came out and I must say I am still addicted to it. I don't want to play anything else.

Re: NCAA Basketball 10 Available, Post Impressions Here

I FINALLY got my copy through the other day after stock issues and stupid Christmas post. From the first trailer I really wanted this game to be good and was genuinely gutted when I read the reviews, initial comments, etc. Thing was, the presentation just kept calling to me so I figured I would have to at least try the game to get it out of my system and whack it on ebay if I couldn't play it.

I'm SO glad I did get it and it was definitely worth the wait! I have to agree with a lot of people in that it's not perfect, but it's just so much damn fun. The presentation is truly amazing (my friend who isn't a sports fan at all was even blown away and just kept saying "It's like watching a real game!"over and over), but the gameplay is FAR better than I was expecting. The well known issues just don't bother me to be honest, but I think that's because I'm only seeing them very rarely (using bluengold's sliders). Not had a freeze yet either, but it's early days.
I'm finding the move's a lot more instinctive and easier to pull off than in 2K as well. Granted there isn't the variety though.
Again, like others, I really can't see me going back to CH2K8 now. Credit to EA this year that I can finally retire NFL2K5 and CH2K8.

I'm sure the presentation is blinding me to some of the faults, and maybe that'll wear off, but for the time being I can't remember playing any sports game before where I've had a smile on my face the whole time.

A few times i've tried to stuff the shot and they pump fake and go with the up and under move, thus making me look stupid.

Is it safe to say that if I like NBA Live's pace, gameplay mechanics, and control scheme (Which I do), that I'll like this game just as much?

I just finished my first season and one major observation with regards to the NCAA Tourney... there were ZERO UPSETS. The "biggest" surpirse was that a two seed beat a one seed. I was pretty shoked. The other strange thing was that there were eleven games that were lopsided victories by 40+ points... the biggest being Kentucky over Louisville by 54 points!!! Ouch.

Overall, I had a blast my first season and I am looking forward to season two... let's hope we will see some upsets next tourney though:wink:

Eh, in year 2 of my dynasty I got my team to the tourney, we were a 12 seed, We provided the only upset along with a 10 beating a 7. However that 10 team went to the elite 8 and we almost got past the 2nd round.

Just picked this up and I'm pleasantly surprised. I'm really enjoying this game. I wasn't that impressed with Live 10 either but this game is just fun. Maybe it's just me but I think the overhaul that EA is doing actually translates better to the college game. Maybe its the fact that the game is more simplified and I'm not as picky on the small details. Now if EA would just get their acts together and release a complete product. I can applaud EA for taking that step forward, but there's really no excuse lfor a game like this to be released for $60 other than because their resources are somewhere else and to make money. I love milkage. It seems to me like this series is just getting started. If it's true this is the last college bball game that's a shame. At least they released it I guess.

                                Things I like

+Gameplay is crack. It's very fun and addictive. Most moves you can pull off are within the context of the game. EA's basketball engine and control has bested 2k at this point on both sides of the court.
+The graphics, animations and presentation are just crisp, moreso than live. I actually really like the cbs broadcast. Both are good. The camera angles are amazing. Atmosphere is good not great.
+new motion and playcalling system is a nice touch
                                +loose ball logic is improved
+I like the commentary. At least it has some personality. It's better than listening to Chris Collingsworth or Marv Albert.
+Tons of teams and different arenas to play in.
+There are actually a surprising amount of little things for what is here

                                Not so much

-No instant replays after the game. The basic options are there and work which is good. But the post game and halftime shows are nonexistant.
-the sound and commentary can be spotty at best and the game sounds hollow somtimes.
-the motion system is cool but guys stand around too much and just go into a very basic set if you dont call anything. Off the ball movement can be more natural and aggressive in live, especially on fast breaks and guys filling the lane
-no pass out of shot button
-Not as many animations and players and teams dont differentiate themselves as much as Live does. Which is pretty bad, because live doesn't do that well either.
-post game could use some work. Although its not bad.
-game seems thrown together and like they just tuned Live into a quick pick up and play college hoops title and charged $60. Substitution logic can be sketchy, various bugs etc... A lot of finishing touches like arenas and schedules are just missing.

Anyways this is the most fun I've had playing basketball on my 360 this year. The core game here is much better than expected, and the effort shows to at least release a quality college basketball game. It gets my vote for best basketball game this year. That doesn't say much for the competition though. I do think EA is starting a new cycle of great basketball though. This is like the early versions of 2k hoops adn is a breath of fresh air. The core locomotion and game engine is nice. It plays solid and fun. The presentation is crisp. Now if EA would just add all the niceties and make it more realistic.
