Best/Worst Things About MLB The Show

I'm on the verge of buying a PS3 for BluRay and this game. Also how many players can you create and what limits do they have on attributes? Are stars from the past available?
Also, how does auto-fielding work in this game. Do you still have to throw the ball?

I think it's 20 players you can create, might be 25.

Attributes are many, pitch speeds for pitchers, plate discipline, etc, you name it. You can adjust them all. I would strongly suggest Knight's roster in the roster forum as he's done it all for you.

AUTO field works really well. You don't have to throw, CPU will do it for you.

You can also read through the forum, but I'd just read the TUTORIAL stickied at the top of the page.

this is one of the first game where the hype was for real. just be warned, it can be difficult if you havent played before. try different sliders till you find some that you are comfortable with.

              Welcome aboard the Showboat!

The CAP limit is 20(begging for more for years now)...but there are plenty of editable players on the FA list and on the teams in the AAA and AA levels.
If you are planning on editing players for a long haul in franchise mode...make sure to check their potential letter to better match up who you are making. All CAPS are A potential.
With created players and fake players that you can edit...there are no restrictions on editing a player except one(and IMO a big one...potential)

There are Silver and Gold Era players on the FA list to use in exhibition mode.

My guess....you're going to love it.

I have already made some rosters with Classic teams from the past....so check through the roster thread to see if there is something there you like.

Hmmm...just bought the system (PS3) and the game, but every time I put "The Show" in the screen goes blank.

Might be the 1080 trying to resurface.

Did the game do the initial install the first time you put the game in? If so you may have to delete it and start over again.

No it didn't, but there was a game file to delete. I deleted it, restarted the system, turned the power on, reinserted the disc and the screen goes blank as if the power is off. Once I ejected the disc the main PS3 screen appears. I rented MLB 08 ( they didn't have 09) at a local video store. I put that disc in and the same thing happens. There was also a file present for 08. I followed this process a few times with 09. The only thing I noticed is that there was a difference in file size each time.

Best - The "feel" of baseball. By that I mean that just about anything that happens on the real diamond can happen in this game. This becomes very evident if you watch the CPU play itself or go into Manage-Only Mode. Sometimes when we're playing we don't see the full range of what can happen because of our own playstyles - we get too many singles or get impatient and don't take walks, ever. But the CPU games show what this game is truly capable of.

Worst - the game feels a bit "on-rails" at times due to the flow of animations. They aren't bad, it's just that there are times when the player has to wait before getting control (fielding a ball, for example - you're basically locked into an animation from the time the ball rolls toward you until you pick it up and ready a throw). The game does have branching animations that flow seamlessly from one to another, but if you miss one of those branch points (press a button too late), the player will often come to a dead stop as the animation finishes and waits for a new one to start.
