    Madden 11 Announcing

I think that they should bring Al Michaels back for Madden 11. Tom Hammond is abysmal. He sounds like a robot and takes away from the realism of the game. If they had Michaels and Collingsworth together, just how they are in real life, the announcing will be better. Madden currently has the worst announcing out of any game out there. Does anyone else agree?

Agree, but Madden himself is a friend of Hammond's and recommended him. Hopefully, they'll be able to release Hammond.

Hammond's himself really isn't the problem. It's the script and coaching.
"Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."

Hammond is a big part of the problem, as is the play by play script, flow, etc..

Theres too much loyalty to cut Hammond. This isn't some noname company cutting a weak celebrity. This is the biggest gaming company rejecting a huge commentating name.

IT just won't happen. Unless Hammond leaves because of 'personal reasons', EA is not booting him. Its just the way it is.

Overall it just sucks. Hopefully the presentation steps it up with 11.

they need commentary like NCAA Basketball 10 has. Although i know they won't do it.

While I'm sure those play a role, Hammond in my opinion in reality isn't really that great to begin with. I've heard him do Notre Dame games and I'm not impressed.

He doesn't have much excitement, and he can't pull off the monotone/ease that someone like a Summerall or Nantz can.

Frankly, I wish they went the way Fifa did and allow you to DL what ever announcers you want to get and keep things fresh... I'd pay for better announcers, or at least the ability to change them every once and a while to keep from getting the same lines spit at me for a wide variety of different plays...

well hammond is the play by play guy so he is supposed to just tell it like it is... its not either of their faults they just need more scripts...i wouldnt mind a change though to shake things up

Tom Hammond sucks. He sounds like he's trying to make a sales pitch to 6 year olds or senior citizens, you take your pick. He absolutely needs to go.

Collinsworth is solid. Needs a lot more variety, but he's pretty good.

Obvious move would be to throw Al Michaels in there. he was exceptional in previous versions and he is simply one of the best in the business.

Troy Aikman/Joe Buck would also be a very good combination. Sims/Nunz (?) would be nice to. Heck, I can even see Gruden, Tirico, and Jaws.... basically....there are a lot of good options out there...

I wonder how they screwed it up for these past 2.

The commentary in Madden is its weakest link. Even though it is improved over the abysmal "radio guy" from 06-08, it is still horrible having to endure Tom Hammond. His delivery is that of a speak'n'spell with little emotion and some VERY poor editing that makes his sentences sound all over the place.

I hear that EA Tiburon has put a new guy in charge of audio for Madden 11. I hope they find a way to make games sound more exciting, varied, progressive and realistic this year. Al Michaels would be amazing to bring back. He was great on last-gen. Collinsworth is solid and should be kept.
