How do I recruit?

This is my first time playing and I don't know how to recruit can someone give me a 101 or point me to a quide somewhere that teaches me.

Piggybacking of your thread, this is my first time playing a NCAA basketball game, and I used up all my recruiting points in my Dynasty already and I'm only a few games in.

Are recruiting points replaced or is that it once you use all them up?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

it can be a bit confusing at first, but you only get those points to recruit for the whole regular season, and you get more for the off season. You shouldnt waste too many on scouting if you know that the guy is a recruit you wanna sign. before the season starts, when youre in the season preview screen, go to recruiting database and find some who are interested in your school. i wouldnt bother with the ones who are only at "medium" because they could sign somewhere else much faster. select a bunch because those are the only guys who you can recruit in the regular season. now, in the regular season, go to the database, and your short list should have the guys you targeted, plus a bunch who have interest at "very low". dont bother with the latter. to recruit somebody, click on their name and hit the trigger until you are on "contact" start out by emailing them and sending a letter of interest, and maybe sending a package. in exactly a week, you are able to give them a call or come visit them, as well as offering a scholarship. dont offer the scholly unless you have the interest bar nearly or completely full. then if you do, they should sign with you. it gets pretty easy after a while, but in completely confused on how the pool switches from the regular season to the off season.

You need to be selective with you recruits. I don't use all 25 spots... you just don't have the points. I focur on 5-7 key players with certain characteristics

- 3 star or more
- pipeline player
- medium or more interest

Then I send email and do an internet search (wk 1)
Then I do letter of intent and more internet
Then I view gamefilm or chat with a coach
Then and only then... I offer the scholarship.

Be careful though because once you offer them and they are accepted your recruiting is pretty much stimied until post season signing. Recruiting has a huge learning curve in this game.

EA is just awful at explaining how you do things in their games. Who would have thought that those are all the points you get for the entire regular season? That's absolutely ********.

I'm glad I read this thread because now I have to go start my entire dynasty over again due to this development.

so do you get different stats each time you do internet search?

and what do i need to scout in order to get their composure and potential? all the stuff on the list above speed is always N/A.

And here's another question to add to this list: if one of your recruiting goals is to sign a B- inside scorer and you sign a C who is averaging 30 points per game (and I believe had A+ for offense before the season started) but you never found that out about them before signing them, will you still see this show up as an achieved recruiting goal?

I'm in this predicament now but am unsure of the outcome yet. Also, I don't have answers to your questions yet either because my recruits signed so quickly; sorry.

And here's another question to add to this list: if one of your recruiting goals is to sign a B- inside scorer and you sign a C who is averaging 30 points per game (and I believe had A+ for offense before the season started) but you never found that out about them before signing them, will you still see this show up as an achieved recruiting goal?

i wouldnt lose sleep over it, i had a season with memphis where i signed 4 mcdonalds aa's and none of them met my goals so the ad complained about how angry the alumni would be. dont worry because it would rather you sign all 2 stars and meet the goals than have a class like kentucky did last season but meet none of the goals.

this is probably known already but i found out the hard way. during in-season recruiting if you wanna "remove this recruit" from your target list make sure you uncheck any scouting reports or pitches first, your points will be lost if you dont. i only lost 4 points on internet scouting but it pissed me of none the less.

Yeah I signed a 5* player and it didn't fulfill a goal that was "sign a 4* player."

Guys, I ran out of points before I could offer any schollys. However, the 3 guys (doing a dynasty starting @ Wagner and they only have 3 scholarships) that I want have full bars and I'm at the top of their lists. Will they hold out until the offseason so I can sign them or am I screwed?

I have learned o0ne thing for sure. BE FRUGLE with your points.. Don't waste a one. Especially early in the season.

FML. How in the hell is a small school supposed to compete in recruiting when you get jack squat for points, then? What should I do?
