Re: ACQB M10 Franchise Game Discussion/Ish-Talking Thread
This is a HUGE mistake I see people make. I leave in my HB and FB in to block multiple times if I suspect blitz. If I come out in a shotgun formation with both a HB and FB on either side of me. I will hot route both to stay in to block. That added protection can greatly help in buying time for the deep routes to open up.Comment

Re: ACQB M10 Franchise Game Discussion/Ish-Talking Thread
This **** is killing me.strategy question, been working on my gameplay and have a question: how do you deal with the end rusher that lines up slightly outside of the tackle and comes in untouched?? i tried slide protect, but that made the tackle on the other side leave his guy untouched. is this cheese, or is there a counter that doesnt involve me having to leave 3 people to block this tactic??Comment

when you are at the screen to choose your team, I believe you hit the Y button which is for import team. then you select the save file of the team you wish to import and presto!!!!! I think at the bottom of the team select team it says "import".IN RILEY WE TRUSTComment

thought it was just me lol i shouldnt have to use two blockers to stop one guy, if he is getting beat that is one thing, but when you manually take him and put him outside where a LB should be it seems to make the tackle dumb as hell unless you have a super quick tackleComment

Just run right at him, to soften up the entire defense. Motion an extra blocker and you're good. Throw in some jumbo sets for good measure.Comment

i would agree if he was just getting beat, but this movement is just letting him blow right by a tackle and i was playing around with it and i built a 99 rated tackle and put him against a 85 speed defensive end with no block sheeding, and moved him to that outside shoulder and was able to get around 8 of 10 times i think that by moving outside like that gived u a big advantage i would never play anorther player who uses this if you use normal shifts you are fine but manually moving outside creates a big advantage for the defense because the only answer is to leave 2 potentail receivers in to block in obvious passing downsComment

Re: ACQB M10 Franchise Game Discussion/Ish-Talking Thread
Yes you can! I do from time to time, and I get first downs doing it. Just ask around. People have to play your pass downs differently if they know you'll run it from time to time even in long situations. I broke a 20 yard run on 3rd and long just the other day.
To the general question, it sounds like you're looking at a 9 technique. If I saw that and the guy out there was a good player, I'd make sure I had a slide on or extra help. You need an elite LT to leave him on an island with an elite rusher in that alignment. If you don't have that, I'd make sure to have a back or TE over there.
Other options are to run draws to that side--that should catch the DE in a very bad spot. You can also step up right away and duck under the rush. If it's too wide, you'll have more time than normal.
I've faced the 9 technique a few times, and in my experience it's not the sort of thing that makes defenders invisible. There are plays where OL just look confused, and that could have been the case, I don't know. A good OT will just push and ride that rush outside the pocket, but it's matchup-dependent.
It is the sort of thing you have to account for, though. And it's a very good idea to avoid situations where the defense can pin its ears back by running the ball more and keeping the defense honest with mixed playcalls in so-called obvious situations. Those things slow a rush down considerably. You can't always avoid those situations, but you can work at it.Comment

Re: ACQB M10 Franchise Game Discussion/Ish-Talking Thread
IDK. I've moved Porter and Taylor, and even Little out into a 9 from time to time and not had tremendous or predictable success.i would agree if he was just getting beat, but this movement is just letting him blow right by a tackle and i was playing around with it and i built a 99 rated tackle and put him against a 85 speed defensive end with no block sheeding, and moved him to that outside shoulder and was able to get around 8 of 10 times i think that by moving outside like that gived u a big advantage i would never play anorther player who uses this if you use normal shifts you are fine but manually moving outside creates a big advantage for the defense because the only answer is to leave 2 potentail receivers in to block in obvious passing downs
Try an aggressive line audible, and work on pocket movement.
Also it's best to take a look at the tape and see what's really going on in the whole play call in those situations where you can't figure out how you got hit so quickly. It could very well be that there was a fake blitz or an alignment issue or something of that nature drawing your guy, I don't know.
If an opponent has a very fast rusher and takes a wide technique, it should be very hard for an OT to get out there unless he is very agile and a good pass blocker. That's why good LT are so hard to find. Freeney takes a 9, and Thomas used to do it too. Unless you're one of the better LT, you're getting beat by that.
I don't think you have to leave two extra blockers in; one will do.
Like I said above, though, part of it is strategic. If you see that a lot, run the ball, even on passing downs, and throw in a draw. Those are the situations they're made for.Comment

Re: ACQB M10 Franchise Game Discussion/Ish-Talking Thread
The "spread DL audible" is fine as far as I am aware of.
If you have speed rushers, and spread the DL and then audible them to a fan rush, it can create all kinds of trouble.
The common thing you see online are clowns who manually move the DE 3-5 yards outside the OT.
Ive had to audible slot WR's in to offer just a little resistanceComment

spread is fine, but when u are wide enough to not get touched by the d-end that is what is killing me, there was no additional blockers to confuse the rackle, just straight whupping his tail and hitting me at the end of my dropback. so since this is deemed ok by the league i would like to see what would happen if this happens all game with kampman coming off the edge, or maybemy 88 speed linebacker should move to def end on pasisng situations and use this technique wonspder if the tune would changeComment

This could be a problem. I havent seen an issue with this in the league though. All of the DL users I have played in our league..arent strafing the DE out there like a mad man.
Being able to manually move the DL further then maybe a step outside the OT's shoulder is a definite exploit from my experience, seeing it online. The OT wont pick him up..ever. WOnt matter if you have Joe Thomas out there.
I use the LB at DE substitution packages in all of my nickle and dime formations.
If I did this with Vernon Gholston..who is fast and has 88 finesse, and power pass rush moves...yikes.
the DL audibles are cool...but I can see how manual movement lining the DE up wide of the OT can be a problem.
I have seen dudes online take their DE and they are almost lined up a good 5 yards wide.
The OT will just sit there looking inside.
IF you do not step up inside of the rush, or have someone on that side of the formation into block. You have little chance.
What I like to do is hot route a reciever to run a route into the 10 yard gap that has been created. That usually gets them out of it, right quick
..but then the turds start pulling their DTs off of the line.
I havent seen this be an issue with stand up linebackers though.Last edited by sportyguyfl31; 01-07-2010, 12:15 PM.Comment
