are hitting stats broken in season mode?

Just wondering because Kubina leads my team w/ 40 hits through 20 games, but i would have thought i had WAY more than that...can anyone confirm or deny this?

I have noticed that if you don't play with default settings and use slider settings (so that hits look more realistic and the other guy doesn't always fly 10 feets), hits that are counted decrease. When I paid attention, i had once 8 (team total) hits in a game (i play 9 minute periods). Usually my best hitters have 2-4 hits per game so your stats might be right. Is the way game counts hits right - i don't think so but also other stats are bit messed up.

yeah, i have hitting power at 0 on my sliders...so you're saying if it's at default, the hits are counted more accurately?

i just looked back at my hitting stats from the season i played in nhl 09 and enstrom had 308 hits in 82 games...and i'm playing pretty much the same way this year, so there's got to be a problem here

Apparently a true hit stat is register when it results in the puck being turned over, not just simply hitting someone.

I had a feeling that I was having more hits when I played with default settings but it all may relate to thing that "daflyboys" pointed out that hit stat is registered when puck is turned over. And when you max out hit difficulty and lower power could it lead to fewer turnovers... maybe.

Still answer to original question: Your stats are right but the way game counts hits is odd.

Kinda off topic but i wish they would put shot attempts in there too...not just shots that went in or the goalie saved. okay back on topic...i thought the person needed to fall to get a hit counted in this game but i could be wrong

Hits are simulated too high. Your select team hits is a bit too low, so your team will always rank 30th as a result of poor hit simulation.

i don't think that's true but there is some type of momentum threshold that has to be reached for the hit to "count". there are different factors that may or may not factor into it like speed, acceleration, checking rating, balance, weight, height, playertype. who knows really.

I think you're right. You have to knock guys off their skates for hits to count. They have to have the puck or have had it recently (passed/dumped/shot in the last 5 seconds or so). Hits in the "free hit zone" in front of the net don't count unless they would have counted normally in other areas (shady interference-like hits don't count).

I've never checked to see if some of the no possession hits that you can get away with along the boards count but I doubt they do. Not sure about hits after pokes/auto-pokes that mostly happen online. I know I've gotten away with plenty and that the poke isn't registered as full control, but I haven't noticed whether or not the hit counts properly.
