    The Amazing Spider-Man (2012 film)

    http://www.superherohype.com/news/sp...ws.php?id=8976

Don't know if this is a good thing or not. It doesn't seem like any of the previous cast are returning and I don't like when shows/movies replace people with other actors.

Guess we'll have to wait and see how this turns out.

I'm just glad there's no Sam Raimi involved this time around. His directing grew tired.

Christopher Nolan should jump on board as director.

Well Spiderman 3 was a joke and Tobey McGwire always seemed not good enough to me, to play Peter Parker. IMO it might not be so bad.

Why do a reboot/origin again? Everyone knows who the hell spiderman is. Just make another solid movie with the character.

Saying Spider-man 3 was a joke is putting it too lightly I think. It was a disgrace and utter mess.

As far as Tobey, he's garbage. Him and his damn ego off where each Spider-man movie needs so many minutes of him running around New York with his mask off. You don't see that in Batman or anywhere else... Spider-man takes his identity very seriously and in all the movies he doesn't. Especially the last where he is talking to the freaking Sandman without his mask off. If this really was the Marvel Universe and this happened, Sandman would run to Kingpin to sell Spider-man's identity in a heart beat after that "touching" scene...

I could go on forever about this series and especially the third movie but rant over... lol

Origin is not necessary... they just need a restart and start off kind of where the 90s cartoon started off. Also focus the entire movie series on the Kingpin with Osborn.

Sure it blew ***, but how much of that had to do with Sony's meddling though? Drag Me To Hell was a decent enough movie that showed Raimi could still do things outside of Spiderman. He didn't want to do the script Sony wanted for the 4th movie, and now they are gonna take it back to the high school years.

Can we get a Spiderman that is actually, oh, I don't know, athletic and muscular this time?

I approve of a re-boot especially since the way they handled the last movie and the symbiote suit/Venom.

Spidey is not supposed to be overly muscular, athletic yes, muscle bound no. I thought Maguire was good for the first movie but they should've recasted for when Spidey gets older. Tobey was perfect for the awkward, bookish and nerdy Peter Parker/Spider-Man but his performance left a lot to be desired in the 2nd and 3rd film.

Spidey 3 was just an all around terrible movie bloated with too many villains and a script that wanted it both ways (being comedic yet demanding you take it seriously) and that whole Spidey dance thing while under the Symbiote's control was.....ugh.

Someone mentioned Christopher Nolan and I would be 100% against the idea. Nolan seems to be a guy who excels at ultra realistic and dark films. Spidey by nature is not a dark character. You need to have a director who has a flair for the dramatic but can inject humor in tone/style.

I've heard John Malkovich say that he's been approached to be The Vulture. I think if true, that's a very inspired choice and he could pull it off. The Vulture has a pretty neat "every day person turned bad" appeal to him that makes him a villain you can relate to yet at the same time hate.

The Vulture news was from before when Raimi was still on the project. With this current revelation that may not be the case anymore.

Ah, I didn't read into the news that deeply.

Too bad really I think he's a bit of an underrated character.

Spiderman is cut not ripped. The comic one was 5'10'' 160. I think Tobey fit that mode pretty good.

I thought Tobey was a perfect Spiderman. I wonder who they will go after now to play the Highschool Spiderman? Probably someone from Twilight or Harry Potter?
