Re: Kobe Jumpshot
it takes practice, i play with the Lakers alot and with practice you will get it down.
Also, a rule of thumb is to release the button in conjunction with either the players flick of the wrist or the top of their jump. My cousin and I choose random teams when we play and this helps with players im not familiar with.
PS. when you go to practice its on Pro, the release point will be different if you play on a higher difficulty. I switch to hall of fame to be safeComment

This is great advice....I think anyone who is having trouble shooting should follow. I also use random teams all the time.
The one thing I don't agree with....is that last year you made too many contested shots. You could be in someone pants and if they had a "perfect release" it was going in more likely. Shooting shouldn't be automatic thing. I don't like how everyone knew their players releases. This year they focus on the real fundamental of squaring shoulders to the basket and having feet set underneath.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

To quote Jeebs: "shooting shouldn't be automatic." So why was 2k9 that easy. Apparently 2k noticed this and fixed it. It's weird how Live has went in the direction 2k was headed last year. Now it looks like 2k thought it through a bit more. I guess in this simple aspect of the game, it gives us further proof as to who is on top when it comes to the psychological features of basketball.Comment

Re: Kobe Jumpshot
Jesus posted up pretty reliable information. I've noticed this point pre-patch and was expecting it to be fixed in the patch. Fortunately it wasn't because as Jeebs brought out, last year, to many contested shots were being made but if your release was prefect in connection to the apex of your jump, your chances of hitting the shot was very high. With this years game, that is far from the case. Your success of hitting the shot comes more from what situation your player is in in connection with how you release your shot in connection with the individual player.

Also....one more tip
Watch how you miss shots. Yea I know its sounds weird. But it helps. If your shot is short (hits the front of the rim). That means your release was early. If your shot is long (It will hit the back of the rim). Which means you held it too long. The last sign is if hits your shot hits the side of the rim. This means your feet weren't settled or set underneath you. This really helps you guage your next shot.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: Kobe Jumpshot
I think everyone here put in real valuable information you should try out. As frustrated as i was with missing shots here and there i went into practice mode and messed around with several players and have gotten better. Similar to what Gary said try the Square button at first then when you get better use the stick.Comment

Re: Kobe Jumpshot
I think there is something wrong with Kobe's shot. For one he doesn't get as much lift as he does when shooting or doen'st have enough hang time. His shot is to quick, but the form is correct. Now I can't shoot with Kobe to save my life, but what is interesting when playing against the CPU controlled Lakers team, the CPU also misses alot of easy shots with Kobe. Whenever I play against the Lakers, the easiest way to shut Kobe down is just play sag defense and let Kobe shoot because the CPU misses easy jump shots with him. Now we all know that usually when playing against the CPU, the game hardly ever misses easy jumpers, but when the CPU controls Kobe the game does. So there is something odd about that. I've thought about changing his jump shot to R. Jefferson or something so that Kobe can hit more consistant jumpers when myself or the cpu is using him, any suggestions of other sig shots that I could use?Comment
