If you like NCAA...then you should really like LIVE.

Don't expect as well rounded a game as 2K, but the controls and movement is better (as you already know from NCAA) and the game can be played as a SIM if you want to.

First thing you should do is go and grab the latest DNA as it improves the game a hell of a lot (compared to out of the box).

Upon initial release it seemed too sim for and many 2K converts were finding the game overly difficult on All-star.

The controls for Live. I agree that if you like NCAA you'll love NBA Live.

i had been a 2k guy forever, but i am more into college basketball overall. Since ncaabasketball 10 is the only new game going, it kinda won me over with the EA way, after i struggled with the new controls for awhile. Once i got it down though, i had to have live10 because i just couldnt play ncaa basketball 10 and the next day play nba2k10 because of the control differences. Glad i bought live now, cause i can seamlessly play some college basketball and nba without remembering new controls

I struggled with the whole 2K10 vs. Live 10 debate. Then I lucked up and the Blockbuster around my way was going out of business and selling everything. I bought NCAA 10 for $10 and loved it. Decided to go ahead and buy Live because I figured the controls would be similar. I haven't been disappointed. If you like NCAA 10 then you'll like Live.

Re: Is it worth it for me?

The amount of stupid bugs and new things getting broken with every patch 2K puts out brought me back to Live this week (I've had both since release). I find that Live is far more satisfying when playing against the CPU, which is what I primarily do. The Dynamic Season is amazing. The game is actually difficult, unlike 2K which just seems to be a run and dunk contest. While some of the presentation aspects and animations aren't as good as 2K, I think Live is far more satisfying to play.

I initially bought 2k and was so impressed. On a whim, I got Live just to see what it brought and was totally shocked by how fun it is to play. Long story short I sold 2k this week and will not regret it.

That's a damn good deal you got.....i don't have ncaa 10 but i'd say for $10 bucks even with it flaws you can't beat that price.

Too bad we can't find more of these sports games for those prices especially since they are ALL FLAWED in some way during the initial releases before patches 1-5 are released months later to finally fix shiiiiiit

I actually own Live and 2K10. Without creating yet another debate between the two, Live10 is without a doubt much more enjoyable to play...the controls and speed of the game are awesome. That being said, I tried out the demo of NCAA and it seems just as fun (the announcers in NCAA are horrid though) I will undoubtedly be selling 2K10 and picking up NCAA...2K is pretty and has a deep dynasty, it's just no fun to play!

Re: Is it worth it for me?

I've been playing 2k since 2k3, and haven't bought Live since then. Even though I bought 2k10 this year, I loved the Live demo. So, I finally broke down and bought a used copy of Live off of ebay (and, luckily, the DNA code had not yet been used).

I like 2k, truly, but it seems there's so much I have to do to make the game "work", that it's frustrating.

I'm using Tomba's sliders for Live and am having a great time with it.

if you like college then you will definitely enjoy live.

live is fun, but i prefer 2k over live because from presentation to game play it feels like the more complete and the most realistic hoops game out there.

Live is a better game than NCAA Basketball IMO.

NCAA has one huge AI flaw that anyone who is semi serious about basketball will have noticed and that is the CPU "shoots from the post" every time. They never......never.....pass it out.

It makes the game highly predictable and you end up swatting about ten blocks a game almost by deafault.

LIVE is a much better game all round.

What CV said. NCAA has two major flaws imo. The post problem and motion isn't as natural as it is in live. In NCAA you have a motion button which is a cool idea, but it's not implemented correctly. Players stand around way too much if you don't keep hitting the button. Live 10 is the better of the two.

Eddie, if you are a 2k guy I will say a few things. Live is a pretty good game. It's visuals are much more crisp than 2k and the game is pretty good for what it is. Footplanting, control are all top notch and make me envious. The playcalling system also puts 2k to shame. But that's where it ends. The problem is you dont have as much of it as far as passing out of layups, drop stepping, moves int he post, guys filling the lane on the break, perimeter defense etc. The game is good for what is here but the depth isn't yet. The graphics are great and crisp but the player models/faces aren't as accurate. The presentation also isn't as in depth or accurate as far as commentary and features, cutscenes and modes. You don't see the depth or same flow to the game because motion can be screwy as far as player positioning sometimes and there just isn't as much variety to the gameplay as far as fast breaks, alley oops, steal and block logic, guys filling the lane on the break etc... Players seem to find themselves out of position sometimes and there are just more wtf moments and it doesn't have that same flow. Tipped passes, kicked balls, rim physics, fast breaks, different animations all that stuff add up after a while. Rebounding is an issue in both games and just doesn't have that physical feel of boxing out like 2k does. Steals, blocks, rim physics and rebounding are very cartoony. The halfcourt game is very good but even that has issues with motion and players not being in the right spots. Live for me is the opposite and has a wow factor at first look because what is here is outstanding, but the gameplay gets repetitive after a while because there isn't that same depth or flow. Players don't differentiate themselves as much. I end up doing the same things over and over.

If you want a fun game to mess around with and crisp visuals and fun gameplay NBA Live 10 is excellent. That said, it's a good game and I'd pick it up, but Live is still a year or so away imo. If y ou are expecting great depth you aren't going to find it here yet although it is pretty sim(EA did a nice job implementing certain sim elements) and a nice little game for what it is. Live 10 is a surprisingly polished game for what is here but it's also very iterative. Live 10 imo took a game that was very cartoony and are in the process of making it a sim, but there are still a lot of cartoony things that remain from past games in the series. Live 10 is pretty good, but not great.

The first 5 minutes of putting in live after playing 2k I'm like wow this is so much better, but then after playing a full game I'm like ugh why EA why. So much potential not full realized. I still think for the money 2k10 is the most complete basketball game around if you can deal with some of it's legacy issues.
