Re: Is Brett Favre going to retire?
stuff like this is just bitter tears, and I get why it's pointed out, but it's not even correct.last pass as a Falcon = pick
last pass as a Packer = pick
- lost 2007-08 NFC title game
last pass as a Jet = pick (next pass was illegal forward pass...doesn't count in stats)
- kept Jets out of playoffs
last pass as a Viking = pick
- lost 2009-10 NFC title game
retire already Brent

(4:59) (No Huddle) 4-B.Favre pass short left intended for 83-C.Stuckey INTERCEPTED by 21-A.Goodman at MIA 25. 21-A.Goodman to MIA 28 for 3 yards (87-L.Coles).
(:17) (Shotgun) 4-B.Favre pass short left to 29-L.Washington to NYJ 5 for 4 yards. Lateral to 4-B.Favre to NYJ 7 for 2 yards. 4-B.Favre pass incomplete short right to 89-J.Cotchery. PENALTY on NYJ-4-B.Favre, Illegal Forward Pass, 3 yards, enforced at NYJ 7.
His last pass as a Jet wasn't an INT, saying otherwise is convenient spinning to fit poorly conceived trash talk. It's actually easier to just hate on Favre for whatever reason currently compels you to, rather than boiling down his career so severely to make him look horrible.Comment

The illegal forward pass penalty negates the pass attempt. Thus, his last pass as a Jet was an INT.stuff like this is just bitter tears, and I get why it's pointed out, but it's not even correct.

Re: Is Brett Favre going to retire?
Regardless, Favre's last INT in that game killed the Jets. They didn't get the ball back until only 17 ticks were left on the clock on that last drive. And shortly after that, Favre pulled a LeBron and snubbed Pennington for the mid-field handshake......and was praised by the tv announcers as he ran for the tunnel.

Favre has made inept plays that a man of his experience knows better - that pass to Sidney Rice is a throw I expect Mark Sanchez or 2-3 year player making not a 20-yr vet. I understand his gunslinging mentality and that in some instances it makes him the HOF he is but in crucial moments of the game experienced QBs must understand the importance turnovers have. Any way you want to slice it, it has simply been bad decisions that cost his teams games.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

Re: Is Brett Favre going to retire?
Thank you, I am sick of hearing all the hate on a man that has given so much to the game. I am not a Favre lover but you got to give the man respect. Yes he has cost teams wins by INT but yesterday was not one of them. Fumbles and 12 men on the field cost the Vikings the game, Brett's the only reason they were in the game or even playing in the NFC title game. Not the greatest QB ever but certainly the toughest. He took a couple cheap hits yesterday and they still could not knock him out. I am A Drew Brees fan but Manning(the greatest of all time) @ company are going to roll because they won't get to him like the did Favre.stuff like this is just bitter tears, and I get why it's pointed out, but it's not even correct.

Re: Is Brett Favre going to retire?
The turnovers cost the Vikings the game and so did the boneheaded 12 men in the huddle. That's on the coach, he has to control the sideline at that crucial moment of the game. 2 of those turnovers were on Favre. He threw into coverage once(3 Saints in the area) and across his body with the game on the line. He had a player open in the right flat or he could have scrambled. As he said, in hindsight, he could have ran with it.Thank you, I am sick of hearing all the hate on a man that has given so much to the game. In the heat of the moment, Favre makes mistakes at crucial times. You learn to take the good with the bad with Favre. He had arguably the best career he's ever had, and I'm sure Viking fans were thinking that they were getting the new Favre that will lead their team to the SB.
At a crucial moment, the old Favre showed up.Comment

Re: Is Brett Favre going to retire?
I agree with costly mistakes and the one int. was a bad decision throwing into triple coverage but man they were not given him much time to throw and all QB throw picks from time to time. I'm sure all QB's would like to have back some game ending decisions in their lifetime and Brett has had more than most. I believe those decisions is what keeps him out of the discision imo of greatest of all time. Montana,Marino,Manning and Elway usually did not make those bad decisions and why easily any one of them could be argued for as being the best. I just feel for Brett because I do not think another QB could have taken the punishment he did and stayed in the game, easily the toughest guy ever at that position. The turnovers cost the Vikings the game and so did the boneheaded 12 men in the huddle. Re: Is Brett Favre going to retire?
If that old Brett didn't show up we would not even be in that game! So I will take Brett any day. Sure he threw INT and that sucked. But he also threw some nice TD's and made some key throws that kept the chains moving. He did not lose this game for the Vikings. The Coach and the turn overs did. But even then they still almost one the game. So I just say it was one of those road games we have become accustomed with. The turnovers cost the Vikings the game and so did the boneheaded 12 men in the huddle. Re: Is Brett Favre going to retire?
I did say the TO's and the 12 men in the huddle hurt the Vikes. You also need to admit that at another crucial time in the game, he made a horrible decision and throw. If that old Brett didn't show up we would not even be in that game! I also said if you have Favre on your team, you need to accept the good with the bad. The good was the season he had, the bad was yesterday's int.
History did repeat itself yesterday, unfortunately for the Vikes and their fans.
He will go down as a 1st ballot HOF QB and in the discussion of top 10 QB's of all time, but his career is somewhat tarnished when making throws in playoff games(2 of them conference championships) in the heat of the moment, the throws go to the other team.
There is no other way of looking at that, unfortunately.
I don't see how anyone can excuse that throw at that time in the game. History has a unique way of rearing it's ugly head sometimes.Last edited by roadman; 01-25-2010, 10:34 PM.Comment

Re: Is Brett Favre going to retire?
To be honest with you INT happen all the time to end games, sure it was the worst time for it. But I had fun watching Brett win games this season. Some really good Sundays for me this year. With a hard one yesterday, but Brett got us there and I can't complain about that. I will take the good with the bad with Brett just like I would take the good with the bad with AD. You know yeah he threw the INT in many playoff games, but I bet you Brett play is what kept teams in the games to begin with.I did say the TO's and the 12 men in the huddle hurt the Vikes. You also need to admit that at another crucial time in the game, he made a horrible decision and throw.
