2K Sports VP Tasked With Preparing for Return of NFL 2K Franchise

Article quote: "Word has it that Take-Two Interactive is planning a mini fire in the near future in an attempt to secure an NFL license in three years which would end EA's long standing monopoly on professional football games

Greg Thomas, senior vice president of sports development for 2K, has reportedly been tasked with putting together a new division of 2K Sports that will reportedly begin operations by Q3 of 2011. Based on T2's last financial report, that would put the new division in business at or around June 2011."

That means nothing. At least to me. After all, it remains to be seen if VC/2K sports/TTI are still in business at that time.

Is this an exclusive one? Or is it just purchasing the license? I didn't see exclusive in the article, but i just skimmed it earlier.

well if they plan on getting their own NFL exclusive license, then the heck with them. It will be more of the same. If they plan on going head to head with madden again like 2k5, 2k4,etc then I am behind them 100%

If 2K sports was to somehow get the exclusive NFL license, I would be all for it because quite honestly, I have always wondered what kind of NFL video game we would have if it was 2K sports who had the license for the last five years instead of EA. Plus, EA and all the Madden fans would know how we've felt for the last half decade.

I want 2K to have the exclusive title, then everyone will be forced to play NFL 2K games and then will realize how good it is, but I have to agree that NFL 2K would go downhill like Madden did because of no competition.

Because when you cut to the chase from all of these articles, blogs, thread submissions, etc., the bottom line is that money talks and bull**** walks. The NFL is very concerned about their image as it is the best marketed sport and league. So if they don't like how Madden has represented their product on the field, they'll do something about it. If they can live with it, we'll just have more of the same.

i dont want exclusive rights like everyone else, but if that is the only thing the NFL wants to do. I Rather have 2K have it. EA has made football games for 20 years and imo its still bad. Like embarrassing bad for being. Its not like its the developers first or 2nd year making the game.

Dont want to get into a bitch fest on this, but at least 2K games feel like real football.

i hope its true but madden just is a crap game for me
so i hope 2k can make at least some type of football game

look madden been making games forever and still they cant make a good game as 2k5 game 2k5 just the offensive linemen knows who to block even if they runing up the field unlike madden there guys cant even block the guy in front of him

i can deal with guys getting beat but not even blocking a guy when u know ur running back is behind u or ur offensive line runs and then last secound turn around and block a guy 5 yards behind u when he should worried more about the guy in front of u

in all 2k games need a comeback and show madden how a game is made i wont buy another madden game again to many bugs and they cant even fix the small bugs 2k had bugs but not as bad as madden 10 has that why i just re bought 2k5 andn pro get a spare one soon as i get more money

Nothing in that article said they were going after exclusivity. They are just looking to purchase the license.

EA is going to push for exclusivity because they have too much to lose letting a strong brand with a huge cult following back in the game.

And despite the fact that I think American Needle will lose their lawsuit I think it may do enough to prevent the nfl granting an exclusive to EA.

Until I hear that 2k Sports has the aquired the license, and not the exclusive license, I'm not getting my hopes up for any football video game. For me, this genre has produced nothing but dissappointment for the last five years.

Now I realize that 2k Sports and Take Two aren't responsible for the state of the football video game genre; however, I just can't get excited about a football game anymore.

Too many dissappointments, too many broken promises.
