I've been playing mostly online lately and I am enjoying 1.03.

First thing, the stick lift effectiveness is WAY down...thank you! Players recover from it much more realistically too, so you can have your stick lifted and retain the puck.

I was losing a lot at first, but began to change my style of play and am scoring quite a bit now. You can score more ugly, scrappy goals and I have been able to score on plays I could never set up in the past.

My main worry is that the point might be TOO effective now - but I'll take it over 99% of goals being scored downlow. I have noticed most players look for shots from the high slot exclusively now, so there must be some exploit from that area that I haven't seen yet.

All in all, I'm digging it so far.

Because we play the same way Steven I pretty much agree with what you say did you also notice the Cpu speed upgrade ?
As I said earlier the Cpu seems to have gotten a overall boost across the board on this tuner and when they wanna score they will .
I guess people have to remember these tuners are really meant to deal with online issues first and foremost .

Are we really going to get back into the mythological "CPU Speed Upgrade" again?

I've actually gone back to default Hardcore All Star with no slider tweaks. It gives me a good feel speed wise, retains the challenge, and I no longer have to worry about going through 20 million slider threads and decide who is seeing what, and what theories people come up with are actually tried and true, or just figments of their imagination.

I'm currently 7-5-3 in my Caps BeAGM since the tuner update. Love it.

Didn't redshirt admit that the CPU gets a speed burst advantage on Superstar, though?

Of course he did and like I said before the V3 or any other tuner will also blend differently with whatever sliders and skill level you use and right off the bat the cpu had a speed and overall advantage in my humble opinion .
If im remember correctly Pro HU advantage , Allstar Even , Superstar CPU and I think he said that was by boost as it was the only way they could do it .

I'm getting good games with 1.03 on all-star in my BAGM. Still outshooting CPU, but I am shot happy and I really think once I got the right pass accuracy I'm getting great results. game speed on 1 is hard for me to enjoy as it feels so slow, but it definitely plays out accurately. It's hard to score goals, but not impossible. I have been getting very realistic fight-in-the-crease goals. I'm sort of up in the air about which I like better 1.01 or 1.03. I'd be curious to know if anyone else enjoys these sliders.

I've played a lot of NHL. Probably 300 games on 09 and creeping on 200 or passed it on 10. With that said, this is easily the best a hockey game has ever been. It's just tight, goals are coming when they are supposed to. Last night I took a wrister at Lundvquist, he had to make a a desperate save and it kicked it below the net. Grabbed it with one of my players and did a back hand wrap around through his legs. What was brilliant was he made the initial save, but just couldn't recover in time to get to the other post, even though I went behind the net.

Loving what I am seeing, beat the Rangers 4-1 in that game.

This is pretty much where I'm at also. With very minor tweaks.

After trying several different setups, this is where I'm seeing the best results for me. Gameplay and stat wise. Very challenging, and a pretty realistic feel. I strongly believe I'm done farting around now with further adjustments. And just going to play. Digging NHL10 a lot.

I agree there will always be people exploiting the game. But I still have yet to hear from them why they can't incorporate a feedback system. Let us police the game ourselves, we should be given the option the type of opponent we want to play. All I'm asking for is a solid way to separate the clowns from the people who play legit. 2K had this down years ago. There was a feedback system and you could tag people as using exploits. It was very effective.

what you say doesnt work. I just played someone in nba 2k10. now i play a pretty sim game, and not just dunk all game. i played a guy who was just tried to drive all game or jack up a 3. they quit when down 25+ in the 4th. and gave me a negative feedback saying i was "just a horrible opponent" Sadly the sore losers in this world make it impossible to use a feedback system to police ourselves. I gave him a feedback rating of negative and abusing exploits as the reasoning because he tried to just steal or deflect the inbound pass every time down the court. Dispite the exploits he was lousy enough to destroy by almost 30, but nothing stops people from lying on the feedback system. a feed back system isnt the answer.

Totally agree. Best of all time and to those who say otherwise and say stuff like NHL 03 or 04 just wanna play deveil's advocate or they really need to play the old games again to discover that they are talking out of thier ***.

The gameplay leap from 09 to 10 is stunning and unexpected. I'm about to finish a full season playing every game and the only time I ever did that was with The Show. And the best part is I haven't figured out how to exploit the AI and every game is still a challenge, never thought I would see that in this series. Again I've only had that kind of feeling with The Show but then again it's a lot harder to pull that off with video hockey than baseball so kudos to EA for pulling it off.

It's now become 1 and 1A with The Show as the best sports franchise of all time in my book.

to me the biggest difference with 1.03 is that goalies move slower laterally so you can really set up some beautiful goals....

before this tuner, the goalies moved too fast laterlaly so the "clean" goals you scored were either thru the arms or above pads or above glove. Now due to the slower lateral movement, you can score on shots on the ice that goes past the toes of the goalie, both long and short side. Hope u guys know what i mean.

Also, when the goalie DOES move laterlaly on time, sometimes they overplay their move and leave their net gaping on the other side. Tic tac toe passing will give some realistic results.

the overly quick passing is also toned down and I changed some player characters to remedy this as well. Because the cpu does overpass and doesn't take on defenders often, what I did was change some player characters. For example malkin and crosby i changed to dangler instead of playmaker ( did this to a lot of players) and the danglers WILL take on defenders more and create some sweet dekes on me. I did this for that and also, if you guys notice, the total passes a game will 90 percent of the time go to the cpu( unrealistic) even if it were an even game in toi and shots, cpu regularly will outpass you (in total , not pct). the change to danglers from plymkrs really helped this aspect.

The obvious playmakers like thornton, savard, backstrom, etc I left as playmakers, but dangler type, I've seen work for hybrid passer-scorers ( malkin, crosby, briere, kariya ) <-- these guys were playmakers before. They will still pass as dictated by their passing and off awareness ratings, but they do take on defenders more often from my experience.

played 3 games tonite.

beat the rangers 6-3 in msg outshot them 37-20
lost to the pens in philly 4-3 SO outshot 33-28
and lost 2-0 in anaheim with the kings outshot 31-20

highlights were:

a very nice briere deflection in msg

crosby on a 2 on 2 , just put a move on my d-man, made a quick shift to the backhand and scored 5 hole from the lower circles

getzlaf with 2 goals in aneheim on 2 rebound goals

The phi-rangers game i outpassed them by 72 passes total
pens game was outpassed by 13
and the kings game was outpassed by 40.

I monitor the pass stat as this was one of those things that turned me off to nhl 10 pre-tuner 1.03. looks much better now.

If only the sim stats were better.......

YUP- ea's gameplay and fun factor blows 2ks game out of the water. I only simmed in 2ks game for the stats. I couldnt even get a whole game in without shutting it off.

If ea can get simmed stats as accurate as the 2k game next season, I'll be in heaven.
They also need the edit player feature like 2k. I love how you can edit any players name in 2k.
