MLB '10: The Show - Joe Mauer Interview (Gameinformer)

Gameinformer has posted an interview with Joe Mauer, cover athlete for MLB '10: The Show.

GI: "Have you had to correct the developers on anything?"

Joe: "Not really; they're pretty spot-on with everything. I got my hands on [the game], and I played an inning. I was playing myself, and I struck out. I think that was more of a user problem than anything, though. [Laughs]"

I can't wait to hit with Mauer...and I'm an Indians fan...I think he is hands down the 2nd best hitter in MLB (behind Albert P)

        Sorry, that would be Ichiro.

If Ichiro was better than Mauer, he'd be on the cover...and no reason to be sorry.

Is he even the best hitter on his team? Morneau is pretty good too.

Now that's simply not true. The best players aren't on the covers, just really good ones. If we use your logic then Albert P should be on the cover, because he is the best hitter. Why would The Show go for second best? Ichiro is the best contact hitter in the game and if wanted to hit for power he could but he doesn't. Mauer is the best catcher in the game, not the best hitter, or second best. I hope I made that clear, I am really tired.

Ichiro is definitely the best contact hitter in all of baseball, and can be argued in a very tiny select list of best of all time. And take that from a Red Sox fan who knows full well of a one Ted Williams.

                  Willie Mays > Ted Wlliams.

I agree my coverboy logic is off, but I was trying to make a point that Mauer is better hitter than Ichiro.

But you certainly did not make yourself clear - what you are saying is that Ichiro could hit for more power but for some odd reason he chooses not too??? Yeah that is as clear as mud.

Let me breakdown last years stas between Mauer and Ichiro.
                        Mauer:
                        BA .365
                        HR 28
                        RBI 96
                        OPS 1.031

                        Ichiro:
                        BA .352
                        HR 11
                        RBI 46
                        OPS .851

                        Mauer wins hands down.

Morneau doesn't touch Mauer's batting prowess. Not even close.

Give me Ichiro any day. Nine consecutive 200 hit seasons, amazing defense and speed like no other. I will take Ichiro over Mauer.
