anyone disapointed about the Madden Halftime blog?

Here is a recent twitter post from Ian Cummings, "Made good progress on the #MaddenHalftime blog today. Looking like we're not going to talk new features - more about the team & vision."

That is soo disappointing and just . I can't think of a more boring topic than that. I mean it would have been fine last year when we didn't know who the dev team was and what their vision is. But it's been a year, we all know who the team is and what their vision is. COME ON MAN!

"yes, the blog will be different than just a re-hash of last year. I think it's pretty interesting stuff, but i'm biased."

Here's another interesting point. I think that they are still working on those features from last year's blog that never made it into the game which may be why they aren't talking about features.

I guess they have learned from last year because a lot of the features that they talked about in the blogs never made it into the game.

Hard to be disappointed about something that hasn't even happened yet.

Exactly, like they want to rehash what they did last year. Much better to talk about their vision for M11. Its news about a game that I'm a fan of, nothing disappointing about that.

Geez, did you ever think this might quiet the crowd on the hiring of Turmell and the recent speculation about Madden doing a 180 and going back to arcade?

What do you expect? It's February. The game doesn't come out until August.

That would assume that there's some rationality to this thread.

Wow, for once you and I are in agreement, lol. After last year and so much not making it in, it's probably too early to blog a feature and with all the rumors going around with the new hires and potential shifts back towards an arcade style, I'm kinda interested in reading this blog.

That's too good. I laughed at that one.

Some of our stuff isn't too far apart. The more sim, the better.

We do have that in common.

Well maybe this will show/tell us the true direction at EA after some hirings and what not.

Re: anyone disapointed about the Madden Halftime blog?

I can't speak towards the blog, but I am disappointed in the topic. I'd love to hear the vision, but I could care less about the team (sorry team). I think Ian's taking the http://www.operationsports.com/forum...hard-devs.html thread to much to heart. I want to know about the game.

If he must talk about the team, I'd like to have an understanding of the following:

                        o Team Structure
o Key Individuals (Product Management, Project Management, Architecture/Design (Graphics, Game Logic, other...)
                        o Project Management structure
o Architect (if applicable to game design)
o Number of dev teams and types (Graphics, QA, Developer, other?))

I don't want to hear about the passion or quality of the team. While Ian may feel the need to defend them, I don't see a point to it. IMHO their skill and passion should be a given.

                        Interested In Development Process

The developer in me is somewhat interested in the development process. When does visioning of Madden 12 begin? What's the last date before a feature can be added to Madden 11? Who is responsible for identifying and quantifying revenue streams? What's the process for a game feature being added from graphics, to coding, to testing? I'd like to know key dates first, visioning process, and then process for a feature from vision to completion.

EA cannot WIN...If they release news its "AHH they didn't talk about gameplay". If they don't release news its "WTF EA YOU DIDN'T RELEASE ANY SUPERBOWL HALF TIME NEWS". I can't stand some of you dudes sometimes because it is annoying.

Be happy we are getting news this early...5-6 years ago we didn't get any news until May when E3 took place.

I would rather have a general idea of where madden is headed and their vision for this year. It would give us much more insight than a new feature or technology. Honestly I just can't wait to see OS dissect it and read into every letter. It makes it all worthwhile. :-)

The point is we're all on this forum because we care about the Madden series, don't try to pretend you're not at all interested in reading this blog. We're all at the mercy of the developers anyway, why not go into this with a little bit of optimism?
