I just recently completed my 1974 Topps set that I began collecting when I was 6. It was a fun venture. I have some other partial sets from 1975 on that I may start trying to complete.

When I spend time with my cards it isn't with dollar signs in my eyes but it takes me back to a time when these things were the most important part of my life.

im a hardcore vintage collector. I ocasionally will buy a few modern day cards but its mostly vintage. I have many impressive cards as well. my goal is to collect a mantle card from every year that he played. Even though im just 16 i already have around 7 mantles varying years. but back on collecting as a whole i love it. there hasnt been a time where i stopped at the mall or even the local grocery store and not bought at least one pack of cards. its a good addiction lol

I bought 3 Barry Bonds cards after he broke the single season record. An autographed card, a bat card, and a college card all in mint condition.

I thought they would skyrocket in value over the years, but it don't look so good.

I have over 100 complete sets of baseball cards. (I also have football and basketball sets) I have a few vintage and rare cards as well. My grandfather owned and operated some card stores back in the day and he was a collector himself (so am I) and when he passed that is what he left me. I have over 1,000 sets of cards ranging from Basketball, Baseball, Football, Hockey, and even some Nascar stuff as well.

I used to collect a lot, but took a long break. The last two years, I've really been getting back into it though. Gotten a few killer scores lately too!

not recently, but have every Topps set from '85 to 98, and also got the '85 Topps Football set when I wanted baseball cards -- needless to say, not too shabby to have Jerry Rice RC

I used to love having McGwire's RC from '85 (Team USA)..

I collected alot when I was a kid. But for the past 10 years I have been on and over. Buying a ton of cards and then selling them off. Only to start over a couple months later. But this past year my son who is 9 years old has really gotten into it. With all the jersey cards and etc. But he is really old school. He likes getting cards of Mickey Mantle, Babe Ruth and guys from that era. I really enjoy collecting cards now with my sons. I like seeing his face when we're opening a box of cards and he pulls a jersey card or autograph.

I collected all thru the 90's and have picked up a few here and there since. It has just become way too expensive. A pack of cards now is what $6-8 bucks in some places and all you get is 6 cards. Plus my favorite company from back then Fleer no longer exists, which has not helped my interest at all.

Yeah, the cost sucks now, but the odds of getting better cards have been upped too, so it pays out the same if you sell.

Fleer is still around though. They were just bought out by Upper Deck, but you can still get Fleer, Ultra and Flair.

Interesting. The store i go to from to time said that they hadn't put out anything in the past two years. Maybe the guy was just misinformed.

Actually, he may be right. I just looked it up on Beckett's website, and the latest Fleer card made was the 09-10 Fleer Ultra Hockey cards. I guess they did stop baseball and football.

Too much crap out there now to collect, and too expensive for boxes where you get back maybe $50 for spending $150.
Much better to just buy the card(s) you want, than buying a box of cards because of this.
Plus, jersey/game used cards are almost worthless now since the companies flooded the market with them. Autographs are getting up there in numbers, but still the bread and butter of the market now.
I just think back to me trying to sell my game-used, autograph and RC's I accumulated over the years, booking over $6,000 and getting an offer for $800 for them, and heck someone even offered only $300 for them.

I couldn't care less about the new cards. I have no sentimental attachment to them. 80% of the cards in my 74 set were cards I opened with my own little hands. Now that is valuable to me.
