Re: Major League Baseball 2K10: A Live Journal (Gameinformer)
I have no idea what you're talking about here. AI doesn't work like that? It CAN work like that. And yes, there ARE sports games out there that play like that.I don't see that as an issue as you can control your runners by "advancing all."
AI doesn't work like that. We all know that. It's not like they look at the code and say, "Ok code, you make yourself into a baseball game and do it with a smile."
It's what makes video games what they are. If you are playing on pro or rookie, expect silly things. I think what separates some of these devs from each other is the ability to raise the difficulty without making weird things happen.Comment

Re: Major League Baseball 2K10: A Live Journal (Gameinformer)
The game sounds good and like he is having fun with it so i'll take it at that. it is a bit concerning, the difficulty levels sound a lot like last year and some of the issues sound no different then any other 2k baseball game i've played. But it one guys opinion. It seems like the game is improved in areas and not so much in others. That's kind of what i expect with this game anyways. I don't expect miracles in one year. Whether the issues he's having are true for everyone is another story. 2k has been talking a lot about the pitcher and batter duels being improved so we will see for ourselves i guess. Talk is cheap anyways and that's all these people are doing anyways. It's like who do you believe? 2k or this guy? I'll believe it when i see it for myself.
It does sound like he is enjoying the game in certain regards and not so much in others. He even points out things he likes better than the Show. So I'll take that as a positive. But it sounds mixed to me. I'm guessing the game gets a 7.5 or an 8 from them which is what i'm expecting anyways. An 8 would do if it keeps me from buying a ps3. It does sound like it may be possible to fix certain things with sliders and other things not so much.
I can almost guarentee this isn't going to be the perfect baseball game though. Maybe after a couple patches it will get close to nba 2k10. But get your sliders ready. I think this game is going to hit its stride next year, but will be a good game this year if you can deal and look past some of its shortcomings. I'm planning on just enjoying it for what it is. I think it will be good, not great.Last edited by kgisbeast; 02-06-2010, 01:19 AM.Comment

I saw this buried in the comments; Reiner seems impressed.Originally posted by Game InformerOutside of what I've listed, it feels polished. The pitching mechanic is beautifully implemented this year, and batting is amazing.Comment

Re: Major League Baseball 2K10: A Live Journal (Gameinformer)
I was just checking that out. Here's a few more from the comments section
"is 2K10 running on 30 or 60 fps?"
Reinor-Hard to say, but it's MUCH smoother than last year. Feels like an entirely new game.
"How would you compare this my player mode to road to the show? "
Reinor-So, how is the overall gameplay feel? Do you see any bad issues besides what you have described? Playing a normal game, I would assume you wouldn't have issues being that you can control the fielders yourself. Anyway we could get a short video of you pitching for one inning or two? Thanks! Love the updates"Very close to the same experience, but compared to last year's Show (I haven't touched this year's yet), smarter in design. I hated having to spend points on bunting in The Show. This one puts the focus squarely on pitching.
Reinor-Many of the AI problems would be solved if I was playing every position, but they would still be there for the CPU opponents.
Outside of what I've listed, it feels polished. The pitching mechanic is beautifully implemented this year, and batting is amazing (although I only get two to three at bats a game).
And if you are going to be a pitcher in My Player, choose a National League team (real baseball). You'll bat every game.
"So do you find it easy to get hits with your pitcher? What is your batting average thus far?"
Reinor-I started the season hot, but now have a .211 average. I still only have two RBI as well.
"Is your experience with mlb 2k10 mostly positive? How much better than 2k9 does is seem so far?"
Reinor-"BTW how does Target Field look? :}"Way better than 2K9. As I said earlier, it feels like a new game
Reinor-"I watch hockey! Take it back."Nice! It's only a few blocks from my office. Many lunch breaks will be spent there this year. The game makes it look like it has a Wrigley-like atmosphere.
Reinor-NEVER
Getting a bit excited.Last edited by kgisbeast; 02-06-2010, 02:36 AM.Comment

Re: Major League Baseball 2K10: A Live Journal (Gameinformer)
keep in mind game informer gave 2k9 a 7.25 which was one of the better reviews. The way he sounds though this game might get a pretty high score from them though. I'm guessing this game gets similar reviews to what Live 10 got this year. Pretty solid reviews across the board. It was a good game but it also wasn't. The AI problems he's talking about just seems like the tip of the iceberg.Last edited by kgisbeast; 02-06-2010, 02:54 AM.Comment

I agree. I like the way this game is shaping up. So far, I can see my summer being a blur with MLB 10 The Show and MLB 2k10 taking up all my time

He's been cleared to post about franchise mode. He's going to start that tomorrow, this is good news for me because I'm much more interested in what franchise mode has to offer(and see if there's any major bugs like last year).Comment
