I'm not disappointed in the blog. I didn't expect anything from it ; that's just how I felt after watching it. I've learned that you can't be sure as to what is (or isn't) going to make it into the game, until the game is actually released.Comment

I'm glad that they're heading in the right direction again. If they didn't have the same "everything you see on Sunday" goal than all of the strides from M10 would be lost.Who Dat!Comment

Re: Madden NFL 11 Video Blog is Live, Post Your Impressions Here
Colour me slightly optimistic. A video that said nothing, but was still worth it - although no real franchise comment left me sad smiley face. Again, those whiteboards could mean nothing (or more likely are a safe way to get early information out without committing to it like last year) but the Blitz guy's ones had me thinking.
With words like flush, sfx, hints, passing hints, it sounds like his contribution may be an optional graphical overlay. You know, the sort of graphical hints and ticks the hyper sim crowd is resistant to - usually because they are not optional (see: big *** red circle)
Remember all those debates on here about how to get people to feel the rush? And all sorts of colour codes, rumbles tied to awareness etc were suggested? It could just be a series of "clues" for new players. Like making a passing icon glow for a second. After all, they were on about stopping the rookie throwing 8 ints. All optional, of course.
Couple that with "Realistic [ A.I ]" and you could get a game that broaches both.Comment

Quick Hits
- Want to bring emotion of the sport, especially the commentators.
- Thinks the hardcore Madden fans will be happy.
- Adding player authenticity, which will be stressed heavily.
- Getting the players to act and behave like they do in real life.
- How to embrace different levels of Madden players.
- Everything you see on Sunday, is still the ultimate goal.
- Roughtly, mid-March the communication between the communities begin.

Re: Madden NFL 11 Video Blog is Live, Post Your Impressions Here
Your right, I've been corrected several times now. Larry Richart, not Mark 'VERY senior' Turmell who is the slightly older fella to the right of Larry. Still, the resemblance is uncanny. Kind of like Ian who appears to be the love child of Tony Romo (not good for a Giant's fan!) and Greta Van Susteren. Makes me wonder if the hiring practices at Tiburon are based on look a like credentials.Comment

A little underwhelmed, but Ian let us know from jump street it wouldn't be too significant.
Still some nuggets that I came away with:
-More equipment to be added! I'm all for gameplay and franchise, but I love the little things too. Hopefully mouthpieces and flaks have found their way in.
-They're not satisfied with presentation/commentary. That was music to my ears b/c they still have a ways to go in this area. It was much improved in M10, but many things to add and tighten up.
All in all, though I used the word underwhelming, the blog brought about a feeling of optimism. I expect good things for M11!

Re: Madden NFL 11 Video Blog is Live, Post Your Impressions Here
so don't get your hopes up too much for 11. at least if they actually do something truly innovative it will be a much welcomed surprise. if not, than no big deal as they did the right thing and didn't make any false promises (yet).Comment

that blog satisfies me for now. I wasn't expecting much at all. Up next...March?Comment

Its weird how they talk about realism, yet the onlything real is the graphics and presentation. The formula should be gameplay, presentation, and then innovative featuresFavorite Teams: USC Trojan, Miami Hurricanes, Miami Heat, Washington Redskins, New England Patriots, North Carolina Basketball, Boston Redsox.

No offense, at all. Al was my favorite commentator in the Madden series thus far. Al also possible has the most famous commentary in the history of sports..."Do you believe in miracles!?!"
I'm just hoping i'm right about Hammond being out. The dev team goal, What you see on Sunday...Lets hear a commentary team that is an actually team on Sunday. (Maybe multiple teams)
If so, I'd like to hear Joe Buck and Troy Aikman.
They're about the only team that could really fit well in a video game.Comment
