    This.

Go into practice mode against the Jets and just run 100 plays or so against their defense. You will get a very good feel for which alignments bring which kinds of pressure.

More importantly, you will learn to read the auto pre-snap motion that gives away certain calls. You will also learn that there are lots of coverage holes in this alignment.

I did this and was able to force Phobia out of his 1-1-5 on the first drive, no problem. End of story.

The thing about it is people get intimidated by it because it looks tricky, but in the end, it's 11 guys moving into a short list of coverages, just like any other defense. The A-gap blitz can get in there quickly, but you'll know from practice how to see this coming and where to go with your hot reads.

Re: ACQB M10 Franchise Game Discussion/Ish-Talking Thread

So I was reading about the EAFL. Cool they have such a long standing tradition. I found their rules contradictory and undesirable though. I thought they came off as pretty much rule-free, but that's not the case.

This just got me: 4 minute quarters, no accelerated clock and NO clock milking until 2 minutes left. Thats ridiculous and such an arbitrary thing to enforce. You remember how pre-accelerated clock went? Get 2 score lead, then sit for 30 seconds, choose play, run play, sit for 30 seconds... etc. Accelerated clock conveniently eliminated that nightmare and also allowed us to get a more realistic amount of plays called WITHIN an hour.

I know the "freestyle" style of play involves a lot of play flipping, motion, and hot routes on offense. It's too bad they are willing to emphasize that approach which detracts from football in some sense. Limiting the amount of time to snap is a great advancement that not only keeps action fast paced, but it disallows a ridiculous amount of adjustments at the line. I can't imagine going back to 30 seconds at the line every play. Barf!

Anyway... that rant just came to mind. Glad we've got the set up we do. Remembering how things were helps me appreciate what we have now.

Shiz, Madden got way more fun for me once I read up on real football playbooks and started implementing stuff that way. Thinking under these terms brings the chess match back to football in a lot of ways and really livens the game up. I start losing enjoyment in football sims once I have to "game the game".

Tecmo bowl, alright I can zig zag or whatever... it's an arcade game. Madden, nope if I start sprinting to the flats and manipulating defenders... or in reality face that... enjoyment goes out the window and now I'm playing an annoying game of run my character to his character over and over.

Yeah I think the time setting we have are just about perfect. The only thing I dont see is much work from my #2 back, but I am in a throwing offense. Beanie is probably averaging around 17 runs a game, which is pretty low for the NFL

Doesn't help that most of my linemen and LBs are absolute bums, either.
4-3 is fire man. I will say this. In 4-3 Over Smoke Mid Zone you have one of the more versatile blitz schemes in the game. You can set it up to bring A, B or both A and B gap heat. If the player on offense does not change his protection he's done. I might be moving to 4-3 Next season or at least 46 that has the 4-3 Over in the book. There is some great fire out of the 43 defense. I just run 3-4 because that's my preferred defense. However, I've set up my team where I can run both.

Also the thing that gets tricky about blitzes is coming up with setups that do not sacrifice run support. So you want blitz setups that look like your coverages. If you move a guy or i you reblitz all of your DL on a blitz, then on a base defense you need to do the same thing or else your opponent will know, when you do X you are blitzing. Make everything look the same every time.

Thanks for the knowledge gentleman. This has been very informative. Nice to play in a league where guys are competitive, but also willing to explain nuances of the game and help fellow league members out. The attitude here plus all the extras, drafts, salary cap and GM style roster setups makes this the best league I've played in since my PS2 days and the NDL. Hopefully I can make you guys proud one day by going Anakin on your a$$e$ and using all this jedi knowledge against you to win the Superbowl!

                    In NYKia News:

I just saw Kia in the NBA Live forums asking for a spot in one of their leagues. I was about to make a smart *** comment about him quitting, but I decided against it. He sold his 360 and is now a PS3 head. Grunt not only ran him out of the league, he ran him to another system.

                    That is all.

No way. Kia knows he's no longer welcome around these parts. Hopefully he'll learn how to deal with losses on the PS3 better.

Ya, I've seen him on the NBA 2k forum as well. His loss imo. I wouldn't even consider leaving this league. When Madden 11 comes out this will be the top league at OS...hell, in my eyes it holds that title right now.

I doubt there are many Madden leagues in the world that are as good as this league.

Id venture to say we are probably the best.
