Does "Play-Style" actually affect player's on court mentality?

I've been experimenting with this and I have yet to find any answers regarding the player's "Play Style"

If you go to the "edit player" screen and go down to where it says "play-style" you can switch it and there are various choices such as "all-around", "slasher", "pass-first", "defensive", "athletic", "scorer" and so forth depending on the Primary position of the player.

Should Lebron be a "scorer" instead of "all-around"?
Should Wade be a "scorer" instead of "all-around"?
Should Kobe be a "scorer" instead of "all-around"?

(asking this b/c I was having a hard time of getting these cpu star players to score against me, dominate the game against me)

By changing the styles, will they actually try mimic what you change their styles to?

Good question...the only player in the game that constantly kills me is Melo and I'm assuming he's a scorer.

    I can usually shut down/contain Kobe/Lebron/Wade. I play 11 min, HOF w. sliders.

Ya, Melo is a "scorer" according to the default Rosters.

I've also changed Lebron from "all-around" to "scorer" now and it seems like he's more aggressive now, but it might be a placebo affect on my part.

I believe that player tendencies play a big part in this too.

I think u are on to something here. I changed LeBron, Wade & Kobe all to "Scorer" and they all dominated the ball. LeBron & Wade was driving relentlessly and Kobe was posting up & hit his patent fade away j! This is a very good find!!

Ya, i've noticed this with Lebron especially, it's night and day. He's actually dunking with authority instead of passing it out mid-drive.

I'm curious if this is true also because I noticed my custom roster didn't change play-styles either. I may change kobe's before I play him or something.

This is way off topic, but I'm curious why people play with 11 min qtrs instead of jumping to full 12 min qtrs? I can understand 10 minutes, but with 11 min qtrs it seems like you're so close you might as well.

after a few tests with LeBron, ive found it does matter. Changing him to 'point-forward' has him nearly flirting with triple-doubles constantly.

Wonder why they didn't tell us this?

Was it in the game before?

And also I changed kobe's from all around to scoring before a quick game, and he went nuts. Even though I wasn't playing with my normal team, I honestly couldn't stop him. With 5 min quarters he had almost half of the lakers points with 33 points off 15-24 shooting. Although he only had 2 assists so maybe scoring isn't the best for him even though he played kobe-like in other areas.
