.219 Batting Average with a sub .700 OPS outside of Texas. He is a product of the ballpark and nothing else.

Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Second Baseman
LOL you obviously dont know your stats. Hes the Third 2nd basemen to ever have a 30/30 year and the only player in baseball to hit 30/30 in 2009. The past 3 years outside of the Ballpark he is hitting .246 and a .745 OPS. Im sorry that a baseball player plays better at home...actually he plays better at Yankee Stadium. Also in 2009 Sporting News ranked him #24 of the 50th greatest current players in baseball. I can go on but for someone to say hes overrated doesnt know baseball.MLB: Texas Rangers

god forbid a guy being better at home....take a glance at home/road splits of all the Yankees players, i'm sure you will find some uneven splitsComment

Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Second Baseman
I'll try it myself:
1.Utley
no doubt about that one
2. Pedroia
2nd base still is a defensive position. Pedroia can hit a bit, too.
3. Zobrist
Monster 2009 he possibly won't be able to duplicate. I'm not sure he will play much 2nd base this coming season.
4. Roberts
Good OBP last three years, mediocre defense. But as consistent as it gets.
5. Cano
Very good 2009, horrible 2008 and good 2007.
Would put him at 4, but his 2008 kills him.
6.Hill
Good power numbers, bad OBP and average defense.
7. Kinsler
His arlington numbers are great. Away he is godawful.
8. Beckham
His away splits are much better. There is no doubt to me he will hit better at home this year, because US Cellular field is a hitter's park.
9.Hudson
10. Jose Lopez
They are behind quite a bit IMO. Hudson is the better hitter, Lopez the better defender, at least the last 3 years.Comment

He is OVER RATED. I am sorry that you cannot accept it. .246 and .745 for someone on the road is pure crap. Especially when people like to talk that he is the second best 2b in baseball. Let me know when Ian gets a hit outside of Rangers Ballpark. Maybe then we can talk but until then I will be waiting.Comment

Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Second Baseman
Im sure you know alot more about baseball than SCEA and Sporting News. To look at who is the best 2nd basemen you cant just look at batting average and OPS. Please there are more than 2 statistics then that in baseball. He is OVER RATED. I am sorry that you cannot accept it. .246 and .745 for someone on the road is pure crap. Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Second Baseman
I like how selective people are with stats..Hill has a career .337 OBP and Cano..has a career .339 not a big difference
Hill has a career at 2B +6.9 UZR/150 cano -5.2
since Cano didnt have a good 08 we'll use 07 and 09 for HR ands RBIS
hill 53 HR 186RBI cano..44 HR 182 RBI with 08
(these are the last 3 yrs totals..hill only played 55 games, cano played a full season
Hill 55 HR 206RBI
Cano had a total of 58 HR and 254 RBI for those 3 years)
Cano is a better hitter but the other numbers out weigh Cano's
Hills OBP for last year was still better than Phillips and Kinsler..who made the list
Hills AVG was better than Roberts Hudson Utley Phillips and Kinsler all on the list
Lead 2b in HR and RBI
Hill deserves to be there..Cano probably deserves to be in the top 10..which he might be...I dont understand why people have to put down one player to make there player look better. There are a lot of good/great 2nd basemen in the AL east
(I'll be doing a blog starting on thursday with team by team predictions, including Team Record/Starter Records/Team batting/Player batting..might rank the top 5 of each position too just because this is so fun..ugh)Last edited by BKBond007; 02-23-2010, 09:03 AM.Comment

Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Second Baseman
I am not being selective with stats. Hill had a pretty good 2009, an ok 2007 and has done nothing else since coming up in 2005. Cano has been above average to great every year since 2005. 2008 was a letdown for Canoo but still a better season than 7 out of the top 9 of the "top" 2b.Comment

Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Second Baseman
I can see he should be somewhere within the top 10
Cano
(stats are over the last 3 years this not me trying to say he isnt good or deserving, just stop knocking other players to make your point)
Avg 4th
H 2nd
HR 5th
RBI 4th
OBP 13th
OPS 6th
UZR/150 9th
Errors 3rd
The only thing he does well is hit. thats not the only thing baseball players do.
Hell make Cano first on the list Yankee fans will be happy..too many people have the Ricky Bobby syndrome..if their guy isnt first..he must be last..there probably isnt much difference between 4-9. Hill sucks I can live with it...lolLast edited by BKBond007; 02-23-2010, 10:31 AM.Comment

Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Second Baseman
I've been reading these forums for a while, decided to make an account.
Couple things:
-Ian Kinsler is not overrated - he was the only player last year to be a member of the 30/30 club.
-I don't understand how Dustin Pedroia is only a 79-74 on contact when he's a career .307 hitter. He batted .296 last year and .326 in 2008 - his contact should be way higher.Comment
