***Offical MLB 10: The Show Impression Thread***

Okay here is the deal, only Shobo1971 is allowed to post impressions. You can ask him questions but don't pester him to answer them.

If anyone else has the game, they must get confirmation from a mod before they can post impression here.

    Patch notes:

    Thanks to sink4eva.

    Have fun guys.

80 bills and 50 miles thats cool, i guess luck was on your side, i played the demo/full game today at bestbuy, if you played that version, how do they compare, I was disappointed by the demo, I'm hoping retail will be better.

I have not played the demo that they have at Best Buy but once the game is finished installing I will see how it feels compared to last years game.

FYI - as soon as you start the game it installs GameData.....appears this will take about 10 minutes.

Normally it kinda is a big deal to say the name, but that's usually in the case of the mom and pop stores that sell early, not huge places like Wal-mart. More importantly, we have no idea which Wal-Mart it came from (maybe you don't either ).

So some Walmart either broke street or.....something else happened. Regardless, enjoy the game and looking forward to reading the impressions!

One little odd piece of information upon starting my first spring training game as the Dodgers.......I picked to play at Dodger Stadium instead of the minor league ballpark and as soon as I started playing it says the game time temperature is 6 degrees. LOL......Maybe you guys back east are used to that weather in the spring but not us out in LA.

Can you look at the Sounds of Show and list all the in game situations that have slots that we can put music to(Walks, Strikeouts, Steals etc.)? They listed a few of em on the Sounds of Show blog, but the way it was worded on the blog made it seem like there was gonna be more in the game that they just didn't list.

Re: ***Offical MLB 10: The Show Impression Thread***

so far I have played 3 innings in a spring training game with the Dodgers and Astros. To say the animations are top notch would be an understatement. I hit a ball to shortstop who made a diving stop for the ball, he got it in his glove on the dive, got up and went to throw and dropped the ball trying to make the play. I know similar plays like this were in previous versions of the game but this just looked so smooth and realistic. It's nice to see even the great plays not always be an out.

Also, I hit a couple ground ball fouls and fans actually reach over the railing to try to pickup the ball when is passes by. It will even appear as if the fan is about to fall over the railing as well. I hit another foul ball to the visitor dogout and it bounced off the rail and you could see the players in the dugout duck out of the way.

Lastly, the CPU foul tipped one of my fast balls into the home plate umpire's chest and then he fell to the ground in pain. It then switched to a slow motion replay of the umpire being struck........absolutely awesome stuff!

                      Thanks for taking the time!

Clearly, you're happy with what you have seen (and played).

Taking it to the very core; how do you feel about the actual gameplay?
I know the RTP and broadcast camera are top notch but what of the new ball physics and any new additions/amendments to the actual game that you were pleased with?

                            showbo1971,

Congratulations on getting the game early.

                            A few questions:

Is Madison Bumgarner (SF) in the game and does he have his own delivery?

Does Jonathan Sanchez have his own delivery?

                            Is Barry Zito's delivery updated?

Does Justin Duchscherer have his own delivery?

                            Thanks! Enjoy the game!

In all honesty, I only played 6 innings but the gameplay feels pretty much the same as previous versions of the game. I don't instantly notice it being much different. The animations and overall presentation is what stood out from the start. I love the way the game plays but i'm sure there are some people that are looking for a little change and may be getting a little bored so to speak of having the same feel as the last year or the last couple years. For example, I have a friend that was really excited about the game and drove to Best Buy today to try it out on the kiosk......he called me back afterwards and didn't sound excited and simply said "It just feels the same as last year" He only played 3 innings but my impression from him is that he was expecting something new.

Again, I personally love the way the game plays and everything seems much more improved so far. Whoever loved last years game is going to love this one as well as it really seems they have improved on an already excellent game....Just don't expect the game to "feel" different.

Also, I did not notice the new ball physics.....maybe you can see the ball bounce a little more than before but it didn't stand out to me. Maybe I will notice that a little more when I can play a few more games.
