I second you on that one. Great offering from 2K, and you would be naive to think it's a perfect demo, yet alone game. Considering what we had last year, I have been very impressed and have played at least 15-20 games of the demo so far, with maybe one head scratching play by the AI.

This very well could be an isolated moment, where the user got frustrated and just declared the game broken, which in my opinion, it clearly isn't. I don't think I am alone, considering most of the people who have seen minor flaws, still admit it's a step in the right direction for VC. I am also of the opinion that the fielding speed, throws etc can be toned down by sliders, so no need to press the panic button there.

I am very impressed with the demo. The graphics look more "realistic" as compared to last year. So far, the gameplay has been very smooth.

The only negatives I have really noticed are that at times when fielding a ball with your infielder and throw to a bag, the throw looks like it just comes right out of nowhere. Kinda just rockets out, like its missing part of the animation or something. On a similar note, the infielders jumping when throwing the ball happens way too often.

Crowd in the upper decks near the outfield look horrible. And one thing that I am really keeping an eye on is that when I have thrown the ball in from the outfield, the fielder threw it to the wrong base. Like if I pressed the 2nd base button, the ball went to 3rd base. Happened twice so far. I hope it's not a gamekilling fielding glitch.

Overall, I like it and will be buying along with the other baseball game.

I hope that fielding glitch is just in the demo. That could be a game killer.

I've played 3 games with the demo and one thing that didn't seem improved in any of the games was AI batting...they were still not taking any pitches...in 9 innings (3 demo games) I had 3 innings in which I threw 3 pitches to get 3 outs...so pitch counts were still terrible...maybe this year a slider can improve it but that turned me off because it was the same thing that drove me crazy last year...

After playing a few more games I am no longer concerned with the pitch count. Facing Pettite I was able to make him throw 31 pitches in the first inning alone. 19 strikes and 12 balls. I got two hits in the inning and walked twice. Ended up only scoring one run though. I'm liking the batters eye. I don't swing at everything now.

I've had this happen a few times, but it's been very rare. I've gotten down 2-0 and even 3-0 to a few hitters and the pitches were mostly very close. In real life, you'll get through an inning with 3 pitches, so having it happen once in awhile isn't that big of a deal. I honestly haven't noticed it much. If you're using a bad pitcher like Bastardo you'll see the hitters become more aggressive than you will if they're facing CC or Roy. At least this is what I've seen a few times myself and heard from others.

WOW. In the few games I have played, my pitch count through the 3 innings has averaged between 45-50. No issue there for me. Actually, I wish they would swing MORE now. LOL

Three pitch innings in the major leagues are actually pretty rare....1 a year on average in each league.

This was the one thing that kind of bothered me as well. Especially about them missing an animation during the throw.

Overall I enjoy the demo. However, I don't enjoy when Curtis Granderson trucks my catcher to win in the last game I played. I hate losing to the Yankees!

LOL I'd like to see those stats. Pitch counts are completely unofficial and no record books have ever been kept on the stat (they don't count pitches thrown after time is called, for example), it'd be nearly impossible to prove it happens "once a year on average". Yes it is rare but not quite once a year rare, anyway. It'll happen more in video games because the CPU isn't programmed to take pitch 1 if the previous two batters swung at the first pitch. Anyway, lets hope it doesn't happen very frequently in 2k10. I can deal with it if it happens once a "week" in franchise, but any more than that will make the stamina bar irrelevant.

Google it then? You are right, they are "unofficial" but they are kept, and the list I saw showed 1-2 a year in each league. But it's rare and not something that should happen "once in a while". Considering how it was last year, I'd also be happy if it happened only once a week, but it shouldn't even happen nearly that often either.

One thing I am noticing and someone else mentioned this before as there seem to be no real weakly hit ground balls. No choppers off the plate either. I've seen plenty of bloops, line drives, and high pop-ups to the OF (none in the IF).

Also, classic hitting really does not seem to work as intended. I know the timing window has a lot to do with it too, but if I am facing a lefty pitcher and I am a right handed batter and he throws me a fastball inside and I am aiming my LS to the left to pull it and it goes into RF something is seriously wrong. If my timing is really that off the ball should be fouled off. Classic hitting just feels a bit scripted. This is after about 7 demo games, so it is a small sample size and only an observation for now.

I did Google it, in fact, and probably saw the same list as you did. But, no reason to argue this any longer. We can both agree it happens "rarely" in real life. Once a year or 10 times a year on average is really nitpicking anyway, it's still rare. In games, I'd love to see the top stamina starters go longer in games than a spot starter and keep up their velocity and location. Since this game basically goes on pitch count to determine stamina loss, any 3 pitch innings that occur frequently will ruin the realism. Let's hope for the best.

Right, last year it happened 2-3 times a game sometimes, and ruined any stamina considerations when your starting pitchers were throwing 65 pitch complete games. It does seem improved this year, but still not where it should be.

i dont know how many choppers or weak ground balls there are, but considering every other hit isnt a line drive like in the show i'm loving the hit variety. soft lines drives and bloopers, i rarely ever get a legitimate doinker in the show.
