Re: MLB '10: The Show Video: Dodgers at Phillies Gameplay
Something that looked weird to me, was during the RTP when it cuts to the players, it just seems off. Something about it cutting to 3 different players with no sound or commentary. It's probably like this in real life, but it seemed like something from the uncanny valley. Maybe some kind of statistical overlay will help this.Note to self: BUY MADDEN 12*
*there are considerable franchise upgrades

Re: MLB '10: The Show Video: Dodgers at Phillies Gameplay
Knight , do the out of town scoreboards update realtime in the ball parks as well ? Or do it just show the final score ?The ticker drops down from the linescore when it wants to relay the info.
It will stay static if the info fits...it will scroll when it is more info.
From Community Day I saw....Game time and temp and skies...the umpire crew...base coaches...pitch count...scorers decisions.....league leaders for many catagories...and Kolbe has just told us that more has been added and from what I was asking at the CD....it is franchise scores.
You also get a box overlay in between innings of the out of town scores....I think it was in between 3/4.......6/7 and then the end of the game.
All of this...I LOVE! DYNAMIC FRANCHISE!!!

Re: Exclusive Dodgers at Phillies Gameplay (Gametrailers)
No need for apologies, batting stances/pitching motions are of the utmost importance & the guys at Sony know this. They might never be 100% perfect but that's not going to stop them from trying with each new release. Maybe someday they'll find a new method of capturing that allows for complete accuracy.here lies the issue: if you alter Manny's stance, it removes his signature homerun animation- not cool.
I cant believe I am getting crap for complaining about batting stances when people often complain about much less significant things.
Look, SCEA is God for what they do with this game. It is freakin' unbelievable. I mean, I bought a PS3 for the sole reason of playing it... and I'm not some rich guy who has lots of spare money to throw around.. I am a poor college student. but this franchise is THAT good.
It's funny: usually I find myself irritated with the nit-pickers on this forum, but now that I see things from the other side..... ehh i'll stop there I don't know where I'm going with this. All I know is that batting stance correctness is really important to me and it's sad to see a lack of improvement. I apologize if my honesty gets under your skin.
Personally I think the new stances & pitching motions look pretty good in 10. I would like to see them take a shot at signature follow through swings once the new player models are in place... so maybe next yr.Comment

Yep.
The out of town scoreboards update each inning to I believe.
The ticker is the 3rd...6th..and I'm guessing the 9th although at the last inning..you get a pop up box overlay that shows the out of town scores(you get it in game also)

Re: MLB '10: The Show Video: Dodgers at Phillies Gameplay
Hmmm, I think that I like the new batting perspective. Can anybody tell me what the rationale was for changing it? I only played the Show 09 as my first MLB The Show game, so I don't know if there was a lot of clamouring for change... it looks to be offset by about a foot to the left.
I knew there was a lot of talk about a new broadcast style camera, but I thought that had more to do with real time events on the field, not so much the behind the batter view.
Any insights?Comment

Re: MLB '10: The Show Video: Dodgers at Phillies Gameplay
Watch the video again. The offset is based on the hitter being a right or left handed hitter. When facing a lefty, the view for the right handed hitter will be pretty much a right-eye view. This gives you a better "look" at the ball, while not having to deal with the breaking point of the pitcher throwing that breaking ball from the same side of the delivery as you are standing in the batter's box.Hmmm, I think that I like the new batting perspective. While trying to bat lefty against a lefty pitcher with a gnarballs slider or hook, you get to see that arm slot looking over your own shoulder to the same side of the plate. That is why you'll see guys like Drew or Junior get a night off when they face a Lefty with a low arm slot. Tough to see, and tough to hit.
This camera angle actually replicates this quite well, giving you a bit more reaction time and a better look at the ball.
I have loved this since MVP05...

The BB guy said no dice to my offer of a Franklin for the Kiosk disk. He alluded to the fact that maybe two of them would get them would get the job done, but for 5 more days, I can wait it out.

Re: MLB '10: The Show Video: Dodgers at Phillies Gameplay
The only thing that I have to worry about is how long that inning took ... 10 minutes for a half inning? There are 17 or 18 half innings in a game... that's bordering on a 170/180 minute game. I'm sure it speeds up and you can turn on Quick Play, but it was still pretty long. That was also just 4 batters I think?
I know maybe some people would want the game to have a near 1:1 time from the real thing on TV versus the thing you play... but that particular thing seemed a little long.Comment

The purpose of this video was to show everything no pressing x to speed the game up. That's why it was so long and only 3 outsComment

Re: MLB '10: The Show Video: Dodgers at Phillies Gameplay
I believe that gameplay video was based on no hurry-ups at all. No button pressing through the walk ups and resets...
You'll cut that time in half even with the quick play off. No problem.

Re: MLB '10: The Show Video: Dodgers at Phillies Gameplay
Thanks for the explanation Stealyerface... I figured that it shifted left/right, but wasn't sure what the rationale was this time of year. I thought I could tell balls/strikes better in MLB '09 than any game before it (I was a big MVP guy myself), but hopefully this helps a little more.Comment

Aaah, thanks guys, good to know! I usually turn on the "quick play" when I get into the nitty gritty of Franchise anyway.
Game looks absolutely incredible too, thanks for sharing the video with GT.Last edited by Rebel10; 02-25-2010, 02:38 PM.Comment
