no one said you didn't have to.... these are two VERY different games....on top of that they release 4 months apart......

    anyway...

I don't know about this guy from IGN... I mean look at some of the stuff he wrote...

"Aside from standard quick play games, there's also an 8, 16, and 32 team season option and something called Road to Backbreaker which I'm guessing is designed to deliver some sort of loose tournament structure in the same vein as Mortal Kombat (escalating difficulty with meaner and meaner opponents)."
is he trying to be funny or was he not paying attention when NM was explaining the game to him.... I mean small websites like GamerPops got this part right...and hell we watched the video when Rob explained Road to BackBreaker's influence......that is all this preview could have said...but he had to act like it is some mystery mode that might be like Mortal Kombat, it seems like he playing country dumb on purpose.

I hope this guy is not the one who is going to review this game....

are they bitter they took the Dev diaries from IGN and moved to Gamespot or something?

anyway besides that BS.......the videos looked AMAZING......man does it seem intense...can't wait to play.

They should really make some vids of some replays analyze them because, you can't really tell If there is good run blocking or not. In madden you can tell a little easier because, there is a sky view but, down on the field level its difficult. Lets see some of those D-line moves and see how the O-line man reacts and things like that.

I think the major problem with this game so far is blocking and stiffness in certain aspects of the game. I have to see a few long game play vids before I make a final verdict. As long as BB can be consistent with few glitches and blocking I believe I'll be able to play this game for a while.

Actually it was confirmed in the Gamespot preview that Franchise is in the game, complete with drafting, scouting, free agency, etc.

Man, I am not feeling the camera angle. You know how you hear the phrase "keeps his eyes downfield" said about a quarterback? The receivers downfield aren't what's in focus, the line is. I don't know, I never played qb, I was one of the line, but just watching those videos I feel like I'm straining just to see the secondary.

The run game also looks weak, the whole mesh point between the qb and the running back is messed up. To start with, the hand off itself looks weird, the timing is just not there. They showed a lot of draw plays, it's almost comical how the qb is reaching forward to hand the ball off. After the hand off, the qb just sort of stands there like an idiot, good luck selling bootlegs and play fakes when you don't carry out the fake on actual running plays. One of the last plays on defense the qb actually gets rolled up on since he just sort of meanders around the pile. Sure, it's a little thing, but there's a very good reason why quarterbacks either bootleg out or continue their drop back after handing the ball off, and that's so that the defense can't immediately figure out whether it's a run or a pass play. Tackles alone don't make a game feel authentic, and except for when players are in contact, this game looks like it's dropping the ball.

The actual tackling looks good but the player movement in general looks stiff.

Specifically the defensive players while strafing, and the running backs while juking.

I did notice on the run play where the quarterback got rolled up into the tackle that the defenders where already in the backfield. I may be wrong about this but it makes sense for the quarterback not to follow through with the boot becuase the defense already keyed on the running back. I dont see why he would continue to pass off the defense by immitating a pass play when the ball carrier just got creamed.

"The AI is largely in charge of the strength of the pass you're throwing" this statement is a bit of a downer not having total control of pass velocity. I would assume the ability to lead/underthrow receivers is AI controlled also. Not a gamekiller but dissapointing.

No, it's has nothing to do with guys being in the backfield, the qb just inexplicably follows the running back right from the get go. Football is about forcing the defense to defend space, both the front side and the back side, because if you don't do that, the defense can easily just overwhelm the point of attack. Having the quarterback follow the running back on run plays means that the backside defenders don't have to worry about keeping contain anymore since both players who could possibly have the ball are in the same general area, and if the defense only has to defend 1/3rd of the field, it makes it very, very easy on them. Such a basic AI mistake makes me really doubt that they have put together an AI system that is any better than Madden's, and AI is what is going to truly take football games next gen.

Well the tackling looks decent...beyond that - well, I doubt Ian Cummings and Co. will be losing any sleep over this title just yet.

Looked pretty good for the most part particulary the run game and defense videos. Playing defense using that camera angle looks like it will be a lot of fun. There was some things in that passing video that I didn't like however . The drop back animation is very strange looking and the offensive vs d-line interaction looked very stiff and mediocre in that video. It looks like the game suffers from the same problem as EA's football games where d-linemen, particular defensive ends don't get up field and basically get stood up at the line of scrimmage. I was expecting Backbreaker considering the emphasis on physics and player interactions to really excel in that area.

Still looks like a first day purchase to me even with those problems.

I would like to point out as well, that the videos at least gave us a glimpse of the playbooks. There was Shotgun play in there, as well as what looked like a draw and trap. Looked like there was a sweep in there from the pro set formation with two split backs also . On defense there was a couple different blitzes I saw including a cb blitz. I am really hoping the playbooks in the game are at least somewhat similar to All-Pro playbooks in terms of number of formations and and plays . At this point we have no idea though as they could be very basic and limited.
