custom playbooks and play designer better be in it this year too!
And the play designer --which IS AVAILABLE FOR MADDEN via psp--HAS to have the qb (double & triple) handoff-pitch & FAKE handoff-pitch options and the scripting of preplay motions as part of the choices available (also ideally they would have individual off/def linemen play adjustments "while in game" to stop cheesing by building on that type of innovation which was 1st developed by EA in HEAD COACH 09).
If they make these changes AND add a well done halftime highlights show (ala NFL 2k5) with collegiate marching band music (not random rock/hiphop crap) and use college analyst/coach equivalent to what Chris Berman does for the NFL games (Reece Davis?...or better yet beg the EPIC voice: Keith Jackson out of retirement for a short time just to do this!) and it would/will make NCAA 11 the best game ever. Ever.

Re: NCAA Football 11 Screenshot and Nine Changes Listed and Detailed
Aside from the semantics, this is exactly how I feel about the current generation of EA football. The saying "What have you done for me lately" comes to mind. In the past 4-5 years NCAA has vaguely changed its game play "engine". They may have added features like hit stick, highlight stick, and pro tac but they havent changed the biggest problem that the game currently has and that is the game play. This announcement of features would be like Toyota coming out and boasting about how they improved the aerodynamics of the rear view mirror. Right now Toyota has much worse issues with their vehicles that what people want to hear is that " they found the problem and fixed it" This is what I am waiting to hear from the NCAA team. All the aerodynamics or sweet new heated chairs dont mean a hill of beans if the accelerator pedal gets stuck and cars are crashing all over the place. Same with NCAA....all the graphics improvements to player models they make, doesnt fix the gameplay. Its still just a more shiney pile of poo.
EA and Toyota are in similar situations. NCAA football has monumental problems to overcome, but those same problems are never addressed. Instead they add a mouthpiece or numbers to a helmet and the mob goes crazy. I will be ecstatic to start hearing when they address the very issues that have been plaguing this series for more than half a decade or more.
Many people say sit and wait to see what new things they are adding. I just compare what they have done overall as a body of work to enhance the game from year to year and typically its add one new game play gimmick and then a ton of fluff. I wont settle or be happy for that. If you dont like my opinions then ignore them or respond in a civil manner.Comment

I wonder if by them saying that these are just "SOME of the smaller additions" that that means they will have more small stuff as well as the bigger things. I'm looking for things like coaches, chain gangs etc.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 11 Screenshot and Nine Changes Listed and Detailed
I would hope to God that long hair is in the game this time. To me, that would be a point they should be ashamed to point out as being "new" So maybe it'll just be an unmentioned addition.
Also, I really dont like this Hahmiller guy, or whatever his name is. It seems like he's a marketing guy who just happened to get put on the gameplay team, the way he tries to fluff stuff up all the time. He went on a whole rant about what the refs will do and won't do, blah, blah blah. I never recalled using refs for blockers in this game.
And I "love" how they keep mentioning about "the technology is now in place....or the technology wasn't there before" What a crock. These systems are far more advanced now than what we had in the past. If other game companies can take advantage of it, so can billion dollar a year, EA.
Not buying that my man. LAst year the blogs started and they were showing youtube vids about how their new technology was gonna make a pocket, and how certain features were shared b/w NCAA & Madden. Then when the game came out, none of it worked, and the stuff "shared" w/ Madden didnt work nearly as well as it did on Madden...if at all.
If they were overhauling the gameplay engine then i'd think they were still working on it, but if theyre doing their usual cosmetic facelift feature-wise? They are probably done with the game and are testing and focusing on marketing strategies...Comment

Re: NCAA Football 11 Screenshot and Nine Changes Listed and Detailed
A few things to add to this...
The Community has been asking for an upgrade to presentation for 5+ years now...and we still havent gotten it.
The Community has been asking for ratings besides speed to actually matter for years now ..and still dont have it.
The Community has been asking for Bowl atmosphere...and still hasnt gotten it.
The Community has asked for the removal of Robo QB for years....and still hasnt gotten it.
The Community has asked that lineman actually block for years now.....still hasnt gotten it.
The Community has asked for the ******** AI on defense to be fixed for years now...still hasnt gotten it.
The Community has asked for some sort of interaction between the DBs / WRs for years....still hasnt gotten it.
The Community has asked for some sort of momentum to be in the game instead of turning on a dime for years now....still hasnt gotten it.
But yet people are tickled to death to get an undershirt....
Field goal nets, windsocks, mouthpieces...etc, cant possibly take more than a few days to put in, and yet people are squealing like pigs at a slop trought because we can now add Cups to the players jock straps.
As to your comment about community day, its nothing more than hype , propaganda , and a marketing opportunity. Last few years we heard many amazing things coming from the community day and then all of a sudden people all rushed out and bought the game....
Next thing you know , we realize that what we heard from the community day people, and what we were playing were not exactly the same things we were seeing. Onward comes the community day people to state that " EA must have changed the build" after we previewed it etc..
The majority of us are not stupid. EA and their NCAA series has fallen flat on its face for years and each year the hype machine gets rolling and the chants for " just wait till next year guys" starts back up.
Your $60 and my $60 are the same, and I understand that. They are losing their customer base on a yearly basis that just wants a good game of pigskin, but gaining consumers such as yourself that are so easily pleased that all they need to do is change the picture on the cover of NCAA 10, and resell you the same garbage with NCAA 11 as the title.
At the end of the day its about money, and they will lose some faithful fans, but gain some new ones in the process. Every 5 years there is a ton of new people that enter the market and those are the people they are catering to, and I dont blame them.
The Community has been asking for more realis
AWESOME POST!
Right on target.. The impact of their mediocre effort will show when many people take that $65 and throw it at backbreaker instead of ncaa or madden this year.Comment

good post,
But ask this question? Why should EA change anything when they don't have to? They have paid for the exclusivity license so that we as comsumers have no other options for ncaa football..
EA put their money towards taking away our ability to choose, rather than developing a better product.
So when they start off this year's effort with talk about minor , meaningless changes it strikes a nerve with those of us who love this game and have run out of patience waiting for them to fix it.Comment

I'm down with all the realism they can squeeze into this game, but my San Jose State Spartans had to play in a generic stadium for the last 3 seasons??? Yet on the Original xbox in 2006 the stadium was accurate??Comment

Bottom line is this: They can put all the glitz they want into it, uniforms, facemasks, hand towels, cleats, etc. But if the gameplay is still bad (just like Madden), then it will be nothing more than polishing the same turd. Stop the players morphing through each other. Stop the idiotic blocking logic. Stop all the canned animation. If the gameplay is crap, who really cares what it looks like? You people need to get your priorities straight.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 11 Screenshot and Nine Changes Listed and Detailed
Honestly I think NCAA has fairly good gameplay now. It certainly could use quite a bit of improvements but there is no question that adding better graphics, animations and sound could really help it become vastly better in a short amount of time. Don't mistake what i'm saying, the gameplay needs improved. But play Madden and then play NCAA and NCAA just flat needs a lot of work in the graphics, animation and sound department.
So while I agree with you guys sentiments, that looks and sound mean little if the gameplay is awful, I just don't believe the gameplay is awful. I for one am hoping they do spend a lot of time on the graphics, animations, sound and presentation in addition to the actual gameplay.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

ODogg you make some really good points. I guess from my standpoint I was satisfied (probably isn't the best word to use but can't think of another right now) with the game's graphics, but was just sorely disappointed in the gameplay, particularly the blocking logic, play in the trenches on both sides of the line and still seeming like no attributes or vitals tend to matter besides speed. I guess in a way I would say that I stopped playing the game because I got frustrated with the way it played, not the way it looked. But like you said, if you play Madden then go back to NCAA, you notice a considerable difference in graphics, presentation, etc.Honestly I think NCAA has fairly good gameplay now. It certainly could use quite a bit of improvements but there is no question that adding better graphics, animations and sound could really help it become vastly better in a short amount of time. From that standpoint I think re-doing if not an overhaul of graphics, animations, presentation and sound would help the game improve tremendously. But I guess I'm just looking at it from the standpoint of, if all the presentations updates and upgrades hinder progress in gameplay, I'd rather have it the other way round. If that makes sense, lol.Last edited by 65South; 03-03-2010, 11:14 AM.A negative mind will never give you a positive life.
