I know 1B can get their stats up really quick because they're involved in pretty much every play.

Re: Road to the Show 2010 discussions, impressions, and questions
Sorry posted in wrong spot before, any help would be appreciated
I am new to the show. I started up a pitcher one last night. What do you folks usually look to upgrade first? I have a 4 seem fastball, change up and slider. I have been putting most on my fast ball but I am still only throwing at most 91mph. I think the velocity rating is now and 85. I have also noticed that there is an orange bar and a blue bar. What are these? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Road to the Show 2010 discussions, impressions, and questions
There is a setting in the options this year of watching only a small percentage of pitches while you're running the bases. I have mine set to "1/4," so I'll see a quarter of the pitches going to my batters... the drawback is that steal opportunities would be greatly reduce in that instance.Comment

Re: Road to the Show 2010 discussions, impressions, and questions
I would like that too< and that seems to be the general consensus... I'd much rather be a crappy player earlier in my career, overall, but still bring some value to the club as a defensive specialist or a base stealer, etc. I know when drafting players in sports games, in the franchise modes, etc., I always look for the guys who have one or two categories that are maxed out... very rarely going for the vanilla "good at everything" type player.Posted this in another RTTS thread, but since this seems to be the official thread I will post it here too. This is in regards to a wishlist of what I want the show to be next year.
What I would like to see is some archetypes as possible selections. I would like to pick say speedy as a player type and instead of getting potential all the way to 99 on all attributes it would cap say power at 50 and open speed all the way to 99 giving you a starting point at 70 or something. That would be awesome. Of course there would still be an option to pick say 5 tool and have all attribs open to 99, but lower starting values. I would fall in love with that, then I would build multiple RTTS guys and just try some out.Comment

Re: Road to the Show 2010 discussions, impressions, and questions
I love this mode this year. I've always been a catcher, and in years past, it was boring to know you were mainly going to catch pop ups. Calling the game changes all that. It's incredibly rewarding to work the hitters by calling a good game. You have to know if you're working with a hard thrower or a spot hitter. And you can get a fair amount of points quickly if you call a lot of strikeouts, since you'll get credit for a put out, similar to a first baseman on infield throws. You'll still mainly catch pop ups, throw to second, catch the occasional throw from the outfield, and field bunts...but what else is there, really? The only addition I'd like to see if having the ability to go out and talk to your pitcher if the confidence starts to drop, but you can't call for a mound visit or change pitchers.Comment

Re: Road to the Show 2010 discussions, impressions, and questions
Changing the velocity rating does not always change the speed of the pitch. For example, changing the velocity rating of a changeup SLOWS DOWN the pitch to make it more effective.
But if it's the same as in 09 and 08, yes you need to up the velocity rating of your other pitches to speed up the fastball. I had a 4 pitch pitcher in 09 and maxed out 4sfb while the other pitches were around 50. My fastest pitch was around 94. Once I maxed out the velocity of my change, curve and slider, I was hitting 98 and sometimes 100.Last edited by kilmar1; 03-05-2010, 10:18 AM.Comment

Re: Road to the Show 2010 discussions, impressions, and questions
What is this player potential iassue you are talking about? So for all you guys who have already started your RTTS are you not concerned with the player potential issue? I'm waiting til Monday to start mine so it is fixed but really want to start RTTS now because its my favorite and most played part of the game.
And anyone notice the August glitch? Similar to the September glitch in 09? I've heard a couple guys have come across this and hope its just an isolated incident.Comment
