Help Needed - 3rd Base Runners Auto Stealing Home

Hi All,

can someone help me with a problem ?

Sometimes when I have a runner on third he will try to steal home seemingly without me pressing any of the shoulder buttons.

does anyone else have the same problem ?

Hmmm...this issue was raised by a few guys last year. I've never seen it, but out of curiosity I tried to replicate it by playing 3 games and putting a runner on 3rd at all times....still didn't see it. I have to believe its a real issue though because there were several guys taling about it last year.

The only thing that was ever mentioned as a possible cause was overly sensitive shoulder buttons....

Never seen it in over 60 games. You would think if it was an issue I'd have seen it by now. Also there is a bugs thread this should be in......

My guy stole home once when I didn't do anything, the catcher just threw to the pitcher like nothin was going on, I stole home and got a run, but it was like it never happened was wierd.

that happens on all bases.
i see it on runners on first.
i thought it was cool that th manager sent the runner.
but now i see its a glitch ol

My nephew used to have this problem quite a bit. We finally figured out that it would happen when he had a lefty batter and was guess pitching for something outside. Apparently he wasn't pressing B well enough, long enough, or something enough, and he was ultimately selecting the runner on third accidentally when pushing the left thumbstick to the left. Then when he would attempt to swing with a contact swing by pressing X, he was in effect sending the runner home unknowingly. Check your guess pitch selection mechanics and make sure you are not doing the same thing he was. He never wanted to admit that's what was happening, it's always more inviting for a kid to blame it on the game rather than to admit they were actually doing something to cause the problem, but we pretty much concluded that was what the problem was. It doesn't happen anymore, so I'm guessing that was it. Hope that helps.

i did this last year a few times when i was learning to use guess pitch. i would guess left side and press x to do a warmup swing and it would send my runner home because i was still holding left on the stick. when i stopped using guess pitch, i stopped having this problem.

Or you play with the controller on your lap and inadvertently push the L2 button.

or your controller is old or a bit beat up and the trigger does indeed make a contact.
It's not a glitch....it's on YOUR end somehow.

Trust me...I had it happened...bought a new controller and haven't seen it (this was back with '09)

IMO, this is a programming issue. Why? Because I play manage only mode, and the players will still do what THEY want to do regardless of what I suggest. The game is still controlled by the CPU.

Example is a game I played the other night in Manage Only mode. My player had two strikes on him, and I NEVER said for him to bunt, but he attempts a bunt anyway and strikes out. I lose the game because the CPU decided to do something I did not suggest.

So I think your 3rd base stealing home issue is the CPU deciding what it wants to do. Even after last years issues with the CPU doing what it wants, I would have thought the DEVS had corrected this problem. Guess not.

When you are controlling all player actions (outside Manage-Only Mode), the OP's problem with "auto-stealing home" is human error ..... I would bet my life on it.

In Manage-Only Mode, I could not say. That's a whole different thing.

This problem has been on The Show 09 and now on 10, here is why:

Since they implemented the "new" running controls where you press the desire base to advance (Triangle- second / Square-third / and X - Home) and select the runner with the left stick, when you are hitting with a man on third you CANNOT move the Left Stick to the left while pressing X to hit, because you are sending the man on third to Home! this is very frustating for players like me that use that kind of running, the only way to prevent this to happen is using the classic running controls. I hope this help and maybe Russell read this and something can be done to fix it.
