Rate my BAGM Fantasy Draft team.

I saw a similar thread & posted in it but thought maybe I should start my own.
    Here it is:

I'm in my 1st year & almost up to date to the actual schedule.
Using my home team the Canucks.

    My Dee lines:
    1st
    -Seabrook 86(trade)/Weber 85(Draft)
(almost got Doughty but the price was too high so I got Seabrook I wanted my top line to be "hometowners"
    anyways.)
Picked up Seabrook through a trade.
I grabbed Salo, Salvador, on waivers & added in Dennis Seidenburg(Draft) & traded them for Brent Burns 83.
(basically a salary dump for a young guy)
I picked up Salvador on the waivers again & traded Burns & Salvador for Seabrook.
    2nd
    -Erik Johnson 84(Draft)/Francois Beauchemin 80(Draft)
    3rd
    -Schenn 79(Draft)/Hedman 79(Draft)
    (Prospect line)

    Offence:
    1st
    -Taylor Hall 84(trade)/Crosby 94-95(Draft)/Dustin Brown 85
(This line is crazy for me the chemistry they seem to have is amazing)

I got Hall trading Cheechoo(Draft) 79, & Pacioretty(Draft) 79, & Mapletoft 79(my 1st rnd pick). I know I gave up too much but I wanted Hall to play with Crosby & was willing to give up almost anyone who I thought would be anything but a 1st line player. Cheechoo & Pacioretty were @ most 3rd liners for me.

    2nd
    -Mason Raymond 82(trade)/Patrice Bergeron 83(Draft)/Kesler 86
(Great @ checking & Kesler is a beast on the PK line 10 SH goals to date)

Raymond I got in a trade for a few prospect on my farm team. Jurcina(FA) 76/Thuresson(FA) 71/Samon 73(got included in a trade)

I traded Tuomo Rutuu(drafted) &Mark Fistric 77(being paid too much to be a healthy scratch) Kesler. I picked up Matt Smaby(Waivers) who is 77
& has 2 years left @ $525 half of what I was paying Fistric.
    3rd
    -Grabner 78 (trade)/Turris 79(trade)/Eberle 79(Draft)
(Not bad can score here & there I just use them to get more TOP)

Traded Chris Stewart(Draft) for Turris needed a Center & he's a homer as well. Stewie was doing good @ center but his passing was killing me.
Giving up too many good scoring opportunities/turovers.

    Traded Moulson(Draft) for Grabner.
    4th
    -Kirill Kabanov 79 (trade)/Ryan Johnson 76(Draft)/Vladimir Tarensenko 79(Draft)
(Basically my prospect line real good passing with the young guys)
These prospect were on the block so I offered up prospect packages & players acquired through the waivers to get these rookies.

My Goalie is Kari Lehtonen I got offered him through a trade for Nick Schultz & didn't think twice about it.
The fact that he's one of the biggest goalies didn't hurt either.

I made a few other small trades to help out with secondary players in trades.

My farm team is mostly low 70's(all FA's) except my goalie who is Jeff Deslauriers 78, they gel nice together & are in 1st place.
I'm getting offered 1st round picks for my top scorer Stefan Ruzicka 74.

I'm spending $45,199M(CAP off) right now but have a few player I need to sign next year.
This is near the lower end of the scale.
Teams like DET are spending $77.002M
    CAL $74,794M
    MIN $60,750M
    NAS $61,503M
    NJD,$70,110M,etc.
Most team are spending in the mid to high 50's & theres a few(very few) teams in the high 30's

    My summary:
I'm quite happy with this team, I don't see a need to make any major move before the trade deadline.
I my try for Doughty again but I'm not willing to give up on someone like Johnson, his size & potential is too much to risk losing.
I like that I can have Doughty on a cheap 2way contract for an extra year but I know he'll be asking for a lot of $$$ when it come time to sign him.
Maybe I'll try my luck in his FA/UFA year.
I'll try to package Francois Beauchemin & whatever draft picks I can get for my AHL guys.
Same type of player but Doughty's best years are ahead of him.
Francois Beauchemin is having a great year for me, he currently lead in scoring for my D-men.
If I can boost his ratings up who know's what can happen.
My 2nd option was Letang or Meszros.

Let me know what you guys think & what I can try to do to get Doughty without totally breaking the bank.
BTW: he's on WAS & is the only real star on that team. They sit @ 500 with 27W -27L.

Is it fun to just stack your team because the trade/fantasy draft AI is garbage? Honestly, could any NHL team ever attain Weber, Seabrook, Johnson, Schenn, and Hedman? How are you ever going to afford these guys when their contracts are up? Oh thats right, you turned off salary cap.
Keanu Reeves: I shall take Balloons for $800, if you please.

Alex Trebek: That's not a category.

Keanu Reeves: My mistake. I shall choose Balloons for $600.

      I guess a d-bag post works.
No need to bash the guy for playing the game the way he wants to.

That guy's just bitter because he's a Wolverine fan.
        j/k.
There's always going to be someone that trolls these forums.

I'm hoping to win the cup 1 or 2 times before those guys contact are up.
        Then it's time to rebuild.
        I'm going to stay under/around $55M, that's my CAP.
$56,800,000 is the actual CAP limit is year.
If it goes up or down I'll follow it.
        How is this cheap/cheating?
If a player(best) is available @ the draft & he fit's under my CAP then I sign him.(Isn't that how it's done in real life)
I have more than $10M to play with in the off season. Plus I spent close(less) to what my actual team spent this year.
Tell me how many ppl actually take CAP spending this far.

I'm spending $45,199M(CAP off) right now but have a few player I need to sign next year.

I guess you didn't read that I don't plan to keep everyone.

Keep in mind I only did this to ease the wait for the newest rosters.
Now that the rosters are out, this chise might take a back seat.

I'm not bothered by that guy @ all.
It's called "Fantasy Draft" for a reason.

Post them up, I'm curious to see the trades you made.

Oh yeah I don't have any draft picks left over.

Not a fan of the cap being off myself, not very realistic but as others have said — play the game however you wanna play it.

To each his own. Sick lines though.

Re: Rate my BAGM Fantasy Draft team.

I play like it's on for me.
Sure other team will abuse it, but I don't want to see Toews,Kane, etc rotting away in the FA list.

I'd rather play against them even if that team spend 2X's more then I didn't to compete.
I look @ it as a challenge for me to be able to draft/scout well, & get pieces to win as many cups I can.

I play the GM role realistically IMO.

Re: Rate my BAGM Fantasy Draft team.

I played around with some trade packages right before the trade deadline & managed to pick up Doughty.

I packaged Francois Beauchemin(leading scores amondst my D-men) & Stefan Ruzicka(Top scorer in the AHL had offers for 1st rounders for this guy) & got for Duncan Keith I was quite happy with this trade.
I decide to play my cards & try for Doughty, if it didn't work out I'd have a solid player in Keith with a 7 year contract.

I was able to trade Keith & 2 prospect Persson 74 & Koisitinen 77(waivers) for Doughty.

Pretty happy with the acquisition of Doughty.
Now I have the best D in the league for a few years, & managed to pick up an extra $1M for contracts @ the end of the year.

Kinda of worried about losing a player in his prime on D since I have all youngsters playing D.
Keith would've been nice too, but he has 6 years on Doughty. Hopefully I can keep Doughty for those 6 extras years.
We'll see how it works out in the playoffs.

Re: Rate my BAGM Fantasy Draft team.

2 days left before the trade deadline hits.

I managed to get Duchene & Fowler in a 3 way trade.

                      VAN gets: (*Traded)
                      -(1)Fowler 80(LA)
                      -*(2 & 3)Kadri 78(LA)
                      -(3)Duchene 79(PHO)

                      LA gets:
                      - (1)Gill 80(waivers),Prust 75(VAN),C.Franson 77(VAN)
                      -(2)Salmela 75 (VAN),Conboy 72(VAN)

                      PHO gets:
                      -(3)Kadri 78(LA from VAN), 74Subban(VAN)

                      Summary:
                      Cody Franson:
-a great prospect with size, great potential & offence attributes for a defender.
I wasn't going to sign him next year since I got Doughty, so I turned it into a trade to acquired some rookies to bolster my AHL team & have skilled player I can call up whenever I need them.

-Fowler is pretty much a mirror image of Franson except I get 2 extra year to develop him.
I gave up size for speed on the blueline here.
I figured I have plenty of size ahead of him in the depth chart.

                      -Kadri:
Gifted offensively but can be a liability on defence.
Kadri was going to play in the AHL for me.
Duchene has the extra speed I was after & can check better then Kadri.

-Duchene is on my 3rd line with Turris & Eberle.
3 centers that can distribute the puck & gain more TOP for me,& score when I need them to.
I moved Grabner down to the 4th line to get more XP point for his new linemates.

                      Defence:

It will be hard to see what happens with my defence.

Hedman,Schenn,Fowler all could fit in that 5 or 6 spot on my defence.
Which one will be the man of the future?

Hedman has the edge he's progressing faster then Schenn @ this point in the season.

Schenn has better defensive attributes then Fowler so I think the edge goes to Schenn.

Having 2 puck movers on the 3rd line might be too risky.

                      Anything goes...

Picked up another $750K to play with in the off season.
IMO I'm offering a lot back to dump salary, but in the end I get younger players with 2 way contracts & 3 years contracts to let then develop.
I won't have to worried about them for a few years.

@ the end of the year I have 6 contracts to deal with.

Erik Johnson & Ryan Kesler are my 2 priorities.
Mason Raymond & Michael Grabner will be the 3rd & 4th guys on my list to resign.
Ryan Johnson & Jack Skille may become expendable if I can't fit them under my CAP.
I'd hate to lose Ryan Johnson, he's the only real veteran I have & is great winning face offs.
                      That's how business is sometimes.

Now only if I get rid of Jason Labarbera & his $1M(2 year) contract.
He's isn't even on the bench & he's eating away $1M of my CAP.

Got rid of Labarbera @ the deadline.
I basically dumped some salary for rookies.
I picked up Dubnyk, he's cheaper, bigger, younger & his contract is up @ the end of the year.

If he wants too much I'll let him go.
I managed to free up another $750K.
