    Can't Make Big Breakaway Plays

Hey guys. Am I the only one here who just cannot make any big breakaway TD plays on offense? I don't think I've ever had a run over 25 yds, and I've never had a receiver breakaway for a long run to the end zone after catching a pass.

    I'm currently using GR18's 09-10 file with bill's sliders.

Any tips? The CPU has no problem making big plays against me but I just can't seem to do it.

I'm using the same roster and sliders as you and I occasionally get the big breakaway TD. For big pass plays, I normally have my fastest receiver go deep and lob the ball to him. If he is quick enough, he gets separation and can run all the way to the endzone. Best done on single man coverage when the DB is lined up right next to the WR.

For running, I just try to get lucky with lead blocks. If I see that the defense has their safeties close to the line, running up the middle untouched leads to a large net gain of yards, potentially a TD.

Patience and luck. I broke a long run up the middle the other day just getting lucky and bouncing off one guy and into open space.

I think the 2 most important things in breaking off big runs is blocking and cpu pursuit. I typically have offensive blocking high (though not maxed) because the cpu seems more adept at pass rushing and gets more sacks than me. I have pursuit at zero for both because LB's should not be catching up to WR's after shedding the DB tackler. Back when I was playing more I made a vid of Larry Johnson breaking one up the middle thanks to the blocking scheme.

Thanks guys. I'll keep trying to plug away at it. A lot of the problem probably has to do with me using the Raiders most of the time. Also, I'm just not very good yet.

daflyboys, nice run. I might try taking pursuit down. IIRC CPU pursuit is 10 on bill's sliders so I'll lower it a few and see how that goes.

Master the right stick jukes and they wont touch you seriously breaking off big runs is ezsauce aswell as passing.

With passing learning to user catch can help tremendously

^^^^^^ Right stick jukes are huge. Also user catching is a big help. It took me forever to get the right stick jukes down, but the spin move with the right stick is now my favorite move. Just keep changing sliders until you get them were you like. This game just keeps getting better and better for me.

this is really funny b/c i breakaway for long plays. you need to watch the offensive tutorial video and watch the different jukes moves. once you learn how to juke properly, no one can stop your run game. believe me, i've ran on everyone. Once you setup the run game, you can do the play action and completely confuse the defense. It's not really that hard. You just need to watch that video and then go into practice mode and practice the moves on legend difficulty. Till you get it down.

Again, what do you see the cpu doing? Are you seeing many R stick type jukes? Doubtful. But some guys think that stringing together 4, 5, 6 jukes is accomplishing something, but if anything is over-effective, you're just exploiting the game, like turbo boosting on manual D-line rushes.

Re: Can't Make Big Breakaway Plays

I can score without using em..Also a good technique is reading the linebackers and just overall knowing how a play will turn out the instant you hike the ball against human or cpu..Man ive been playin so long :P haha I remember convertin people over to 2k5 from the other game hope it wasnt a wasted effort one day T_T..lol

@Flyboy I know what you mean and I actually always higher tackle because if you have a finesse back the right stick juke spin move break tackle is OP on all pro. There where times when I was able to get someone down without chargin but thats the one thing that I wish I could fix because the spin move F's up everyoens pursuit angle and it feels cheese.

I think this game plays better when playing a human player..the cpus do dumb things that we cant correct (as far as I know). Master intercepting, swating the pass and most importantly getting your defenders out of ******** positions QUICKLY.. and stopping the run. Playing a sim opponent helps and makes the game more enjoyable but still learn how to stop certain cheese tactics

half of these guys couldnt stop my run game if they wanted too. BELIEVE me the right thumbstick is the way to piss off people in this game. B/c no one in this game tackle that well so if you can run the ball. you can set up your passing game. The best formula to win a game is have a consistent running game and a good defense. And the other team cant get on the field so your just running clock. But you can listen to these guys.
