Pretty much sums it up perfectly. Betts, Smoot, Cartwright were skins, drafted by the team brought up as skins (yeah, Smoot left an admitted mistake and came back.). But it was for them to go. Sad to see them go because they were all solid guys but it is what it is.

Re: Washington Redskins Official Thread
I definitely understand being sad to see Rock go. But I do think the problem has been letting the personal attachments dictate player movement and roles on the team. Rock's not bad by any means, and should be picked up pretty quickly. But I don't even think he was THAT great defensively on special teams. He pretty much wasn't a liability but I wouldn't really consider him an asset in anything. Nothing against him. After watching Rock fill in this year, it made me like him more. No hes not a great back(he came in the league as fb anyway) but he isnt a liability either. He gets out there and does work on special teams and i value that. I dont think he is much worse than any other #3 back in the league but adds alot on ST(defense). Also just to be clear I dont think he was a good return man but he did his job and didnt fumble kickoffs trying to do to much juking/cuts. That said its more of a sad to see him go thing not really that I think it will hurt the team badly.
As for ARE, I understand that one. We got him to be a punt returner and he failed at that. DOnt think he was horrible as a WR but think Kelly and Thomas will be better. Betts I knew would be gone even though I would rather have him than Portis. I just looked up the rest of the cuts and your right.
Now on to other stuff.......
Is it official we have changed to 3-4? What other changes are we making that im missing. For as quiet as this thread as been I would have thought we havent done a thing.
Not much has happened, honestly. Since we signed Boldin I've been itching for some Skins news but I think it's best that things are quiet. I don't think the 3-4 is definite either, I think the media is just throwing that around since that's what the coaching staff has done in the past. All I've heard about it is a bunch of what if's? One interesting thing though is a rumor that if they do go to a 3-4, Haynesworth may see time at DE. If they get somebody worthy of being in the middle that could be really interesting.Comment

Personally I think cutting Smoot was a pretty bad decision.
Not that he's anything great, but it just adds one more position that we have to address on top of OL, RB, LB, and S after we spend our first pick on a gump emu.
Since Rogers is royally pissed off about the tendering he's a lock to be either traded or leaving next year and Rocky sounds like he'll probably join him so our defense next year will probably be in the same shape our offense is in this year.Comment

Yeah, I agree with the Smoot cutting, I really thought we should've kept him. I'm tired of Los, and its time for him to go. I put him in that Nick Young catagory, guys who could be good in their leauge, but choose not to work on their game.Washington Redskins

Snyder on restrained approach to free agency: "It's really not about the past now. It's about the future."
Shanahan on his plan: "It takes time. It's not going to happen overnight."
Shanahan "guarantees" Portis will attend the start of offseason workouts on Monday.
Shanahan on Carlos Rogers: They had a "great" conversation.
Disgruntled Redskins CB Carlos Rogers has told the team that he will report for the start of offseason work Monday, according to a team source.
Rogers, the ninth overall draft pick by Washington in 2005, has sought a trade for weeks, and he bristled when a first-round tender was placed on him, hoping to garner an offer sheet.
However, Rogers flew to Washington this week from his Atlanta home to discuss the situation with Redskins coach Mike Shanahan, and the meeting went well, according to sources. If Rogers performs well — he was benched at times in 2009 — he will be considered for a new contract.
Rogers left Redskins Park telling coaches and teammates that he feels better about the situation.
Rogers had voiced his displeasure with the organization and publicly asked for a trade on several occasions this offseasonWashington Redskins

Would love Joey Peezy on the team..need that type of player on our defense. Our defense has been to soft the last couple years. He adds toughness to it. Somebody that will get your defense UP to play..Washington Redskins
