An Elite Eight match-up of the top-2 regular season Big East teams is more than the selection committee could have asked for in the West bracket. The fans got a great game that was close the whole way through. With St. John's winning their only prior meeting this season by three, the Mountaineers were out for revenge.

At no point in this game was either team ahead by more than five points until the end of the game. If one team hit a shot, the other came down and answered right back. If one team threw a turnover, well they made right up for it on the defensive end with a turnover of their own. It was like watching a mirror image of one another as these teams are as evenly matched as we have seen in a while.

The St. John's faithful got very nervous when the Mountaineers were in the bonus with ten minutes remaining in the game, but they cleaned up their defense and kept West Virginia off the charity stripe. Sherman Richards led the way with 22 points and with about two minutes remaining, the Mountaineers began to foul and SJU was up to the challenge. Knocking down most of their free throws down the stretch, the Red Storm won going away, 85-73, and cut down the nets. They are now heading to Houston to play in the Final Four!

I'm pretty excited myself. I've never won a national title in the years that I've played this game, so to win one would be my greatest accomplishment in my CH career. I started playing these games back in 2004 and have done both Career and Open legacies and have never made it to the title game, only the Final Four.

In St. John's first appearance in the Final Four, they were without their biggest player. Erik Domercant had injured his ankle the game before and was out of the lineup for this one. Against a Florida State team that had tall, long, lanky forwards, Coach Roberts decided to reserve backup center Aaron Collins as well and dressed two walk-ons: Shamell Randall and Renaldo Clemente. In the end, it wouldn't matter who was wearing the SJU jersey.

This game wasn't close from the tip. The Red Storm took control right away and would never give the Seminoles any hope at coming back. Starting the game on a 19-5 run, St. John's clicked on all cylinders and would never let FSU back within ten points.

A very anti-climactic Final Four game, the St. John's' Red Storm are heading to the title game against a very familiar foe: the Syracuse Orange. The two teams split their season series, but the Orange's win ended the Red Storm's run in the Big East tournament. To exact revenge on them for a national title would be the icing on the cake.

A very well balanced scoring attack there. Congrats on making it to the Title game. With your wins, it appears I am going to win my office pool. I am the only one to pick St Johns to get to their and everyone else had Duke ove Syracuse.

Which by the way I think would be a cool idea in the future to have everyone PM in their picks and see who wins. I am thinking of having people do it with the Fab 5.

They've done it! They've done it! St. John's has stormed the nation and captured that National Title!!! Tournament MOP Sherman Richards hoists the championship trophy as tears roll down his eyes. He looks to his teammates and screams, "Let's do it again next year!" Coach Norm Roberts, just four short years ago on the hot seat, is now sitting on top of the basketball world.

The game started out like a track meet, with both teams tied at 22 a piece just six minutes into the game. Then, both teams got a little defensive and began to deter any and all who dared take it into the lane. No easy buckets was the mantra for both sides to end the second half and the Johnnies took a slight 41-38 lead into the locker room.

The second half was just like the first with a very uptempo game and some great highlight dunks on both ends. Both teams hit key three-pointers, but the Red Storm's big men were too much to handle for Syracuse and the offensive rebounds were a huge advantage for St. John's. Up three with just seconds remaining, Sherman Richards was fouled and heading to the line to shoot 1-and-1. There isn't a player on the roster that Norm Roberts would have wanted on the stripe more than his captain shooting guard. As cool as ice, he knocks down two free throws and puts the nail in the coffin. A deep three by the Orange went begging and the celebration was on!

The best part of this team and this program is that they lose two seniors in Quincy Roberts and Tyshawn Edmondson. Edmondson only played in one game (senior night win against Syracuse) while Roberts carved out some good minutes later into the season. With two great recruits coming in, this team is poised to make a run at back-to-back national titles.

wow good job. winning a national championship is amazingly hard in CH 2K8 if you play every game. I have trouble making the tourney most years at UConn, but it seems like you are a much better recruiter than I am.
I will always, always be a Jets fan. But trust me it hurts.

I've always been good at getting players with skills in to my school, but I usually haven't had a good mix of players. This team still lacks some true three-point shooting, but I got my freshman (soon to be sophomore) power forward Dan Cooper stroking the 3-ball now, so that's a huge boost. Can't wait to get these two new kids in and see how they play. There will be changes made in the starting lineup as well. I also envision my backup center, Aaron Collins, being red-shirted this season.
